RODNEY COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a special meeting of the
Council called for the purpose, and duly held on Tuesday,
9th April, 1918, the following resolution was passed, and
confirmed at the ordinary meeting of the Council held on
Tuesday, 21st May, 1918:

That, in exercise of powers conferred on it by section 31
of the Counties Act, 1908 (on a petition of a majority of
the ratepayers of the Matakana East Road District, owning
in the aggregate more than half the rateable property in the
said district), resolves by way of special order that on and
after the 1st day of July, 1918, the said Matakana East
Road District shall be merged in Rodney County, and the
Board thereof abolished.

THE following special order, made by the Papakura Road
Board, is published in accordance with the provisions
of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

PAPAKURA ROAD DISTRICT.
Ranfurly Road Loan Special Rating Area.—Special Order.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by
section 16 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and
with the consent of the ratepayers of the special rating area
in the Papakura Road District known as the Ranfurly Road
Loan Special Rating Area, testified by a consent signed by
not less than three-fourths of the ratepayers in the said
special area the capital values of whose properties as
appearing in the valuation roll for the said special area is
collectively greater than the capital values of the properties
of the ratepayers who did not so consent, the Papakura
Road Board hereby resolves, by way of special order, that,
for the purpose of forming and metalling Ranfurly Road in
the said road district, the Papakura Road Board will raise
a loan of £500, at a rate of interest not exceeding 5½ per
cent. per annum for a period of 36½ years, to be secured
upon a special rate of three-eighths of a penny in the pound
upon all the rateable property in the said special rating
area, and that the cost of raising the said loan and the first
year’s interest and sinking fund on the loan shall be payable
out of the moneys so raised.

I, Ewen Donald McLennan, Chairman of the Papakura
Road Board, hereby certify that the foregoing special order
has been duly passed by the Papakura Road Board as by
law required.

Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by By-law.
Inangahua County Council.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 107 of
the Counties Act, 1908, that so much of the by-law
made by the Inangahua County Council, and sealed on the
25th day of April, 1918, as appoints the several sums to be
paid to the Inangahua County funds for the licensing of
vehicles has this day been approved by His Excellency the
Governor-General.

Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on Balclutha
Fire Board by Fire-insurance Companies.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the
rules made thereunder, I, George Warren Russell,
Minister of Internal Affairs, being the Minister charged
with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint
Monday, the 1st July, 1918, to be the day for holding the
election of one member of the Balclutha Fire Board by the
fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held
to fill an extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of
Mr. James B. Grave.

Notifying Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District subject to
the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements
Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that
the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as
the Marakeke Settlement, which has been acquired under the
said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from 25th March,
1917.

MARAKEKE SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing
by admeasurement an area of 2,743 acres 1 rood 33 perches,
more or less, being part Block 120, Ruataniwha Crown-grant
District, and part Block 69, Porangahau Crown-grant District, in Blocks IV and VIII, Takapau Survey District, and
Block I, Motuotaria Survey District, being—
