Notice of Intention to take Land in Block XV, Maungamangero Survey District, Waitomo County, for a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block XV, Maungamangero Survey District, Waitomo County, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Piopio, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 12 acres 0 roods 37 perches.

Portion of Karu-o-Te-Whenua B No. 2b Section 1b, Block XV, Maungamangero Survey District. (S.O. 19997.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 44088, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Borough of Runanga.

WHEREAS by section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, it is enacted that the result of every poll taken in any separate or combined district under the authority of that section shall be notified to the Minister of Labour in the manner therein provided, and the Minister shall thereupon appoint the day determined by the result of such poll as the statutory closing-day for that district:

And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Runanga has notified to me that the result of the poll taken in the separate district of the Borough of Runanga is in favour of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in that separate district:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred on me by the said section 17, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Runanga.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Whakatane Harbour Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WHAKATANE HARBOUR BOARD.

Result of Poll on Proposal to borrow the Sum of £35,000 for Harbour Improvements, &c.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Whakatane Harbour District was taken on the 19th day of April, 1918, on the proposal of the Whakatane Harbour Board to borrow the sum of £35,000 for the several purposes as set out in the notice of intention to raise the said amount for harbour improvements to the Whakatane Harbour, &c., as advertised in the different issues of the Whakatane Press newspaper.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 227, the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 81, and the number of votes recorded as informal was 5.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

WAITOMO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notices of Results of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and amendments thereto, I hereby give notice that polls of the ratepayers of the Te Kuiti - Piopio Special Rating Area No. 2 were taken on Wednesday, 20th March, 1918, as follows:—

On the proposal of the Waitomo County Council to borrow the sum of £4,247 for reforming, culverting, remetalling, and generally improving the Te Kuiti-Awakino Road from Te Kuiti Township boundary to Piopio, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 133, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 17.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

On the proposal of the Waitomo County Council to borrow the sum of £1,500 for reforming, culverting, remetalling, and generally improving the Te Kuiti-Awakino Road from Te Kuiti Township boundary to Piopio, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 136, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 14.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

On the proposal of the Waitomo County Council to borrow the sum of £500 for reforming, culverting, remetalling, and generally improving the Te Kuiti-Awakino Road from Te Kuiti Township boundary to Piopio, the number of votes
