Consenting to the Raising of Loans by certain Local Authorities from the State Advances Office.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-first day of May, 1918.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section twenty-six, subsection one, of the Appropriation Act, 1915, it is provided that, notwithstanding any Act to the contrary, it shall not be lawful or competent for any local authority or for any Harbour Board, during the present war with Germany, to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf), whether from the State Advances Office or from any other source whatever, and whether in pursuance of a special Act or under any other authority whatever, without the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council:
And whereas application has been made for the consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the several local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the sums set opposite the names of the said local authorities respectively, for the several purposes specified in the said Schedule, from the State Advances Office:
And whereas it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council should issue:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the borrowing from the State Advances Office of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto for the purposes specified in the said Schedule. And it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Appropriation Act, 1915, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby authorized.
SCHEDULE.
AWATERE County Council, £2,000: For constructing a bridge, including the approaches thereto.
Cook County Council, £800: For road and bridge construction works.
Marton Borough Council, £1,000: For extending the water-supply and sewerage systems.
Piako County Council, £150: For completing the work of metalling No. 7 Road in the Waitoa Riding.
Whangamomona County Council, £150: For completing the work of forming, culverting, and metalling the Putikituna Road.
Whangamomona County Council, £200: For constructing a bridge on the Upper Mangaehu Road.
Whangamomona County Council, £1,000: For forming a dray-road.

Declaring Roads in Fallon Settlement, Masterton County, to be County Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-first day of May, 1918.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that portion of road in the Wellington Land District, Masterton County, Fallon Settlement, commencing at the northern boundary of Section 41, Block XI, Mikimiki Survey District, near the north-western corner of such section, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction, adjoining or passing through Sections 5, 6, 4, 1, and 9, Block XI aforesaid, and terminating at the south-eastern corner of the said Section 1; being a distance of 80 chains, more or less.
Also all that portion of Mataiwi Road, in the said land district and county, commencing at a point near the south-western corner of Section 69, Block XI, Mikimiki Survey District, and proceeding thence in a northerly direction for a distance of approximately seven chains, adjoining or passing through part Sections 9 and 3, Block XI, Mikimiki Survey District.
As the said portions of road are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 44154, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1903, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become Government roads.
