Proclaiming Native Land to be Crown Land under Section 374 of the Native Land Act, 1909.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section three hundred and seventy-four of the Native Land Act, 1909 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), and by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, it is provided, inter alia, that, on being satisfied that the purchase of any Native land has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the said Act, the Governor-General may issue a Proclamation that such land has become Crown land:

And whereas the purchase of the Native land set out in the Schedule hereto has been duly completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the said Act:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section three hundred and seventy-four of the said Act, and by section fourteen of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1914, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim the land set out in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land.

Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the Purposes of a Road near Whangamarino.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of land taken for the purposes of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway, and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in the Road District of Whangamarino, the local authority of which has assented to the issue of this Proclamation:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor-General is of opinion that the said local authority can conveniently construct and maintain the said road;

Now, therefore I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be under the control of the Whangamarino Road Board, and shall be maintained by the said Board in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Board.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land: 1 acre 3 roods 39·4 perches.

Portion of railway reserve, Whangamarino Parish, Block XI, Maramarua Survey District, Whangamarino Road District. (S.O. 19925, blue.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked W.R. 25378, deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington, and thereon coloured pink.

Lands reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor-General; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.


SCHEDULE.

POURAKINO RIVER.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, containing 107 acres 1 rood 24 perches, more or less, being Section 46, Block XIX, Jacob's River Hundred, bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the western bank of the Pourakino River due east of the south-eastern corner of Section 53, Block XIX aforesaid; thence due west to More's tramway reserve, 420 links (scaled); thence south by the said tramway reserve, 229·5, 3271·7, and 556·2 links, to the intersection of a road; thence to the east by the said road, 187 links; thence to the north-east generally by Sections 18, 19, Block V
