2nd Lieutenant Hugh Cooper Tennent, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 8th February, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant—as from 22nd July, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139, of the 14th December, 1916.

NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) William Diamond, M.B., M.S., Glas. (Retired List), ceases to be employed as a member of a Special District Medical Board on account of ill health, and relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel whilst so employed. Dated 4th January, 1918.

William Frederick Browne, M.B., B.S., N.Z., is granted the temporary rank of Captain. Dated 15th December, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND DENTAL CORPS.

Honorary Captain John Ralfe Smith, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 6th January, 1918, and relinquishes his appointment as Officer-in-Charge, Wireless Station, Samoa, and the honorary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 6th January, 1918.

Lieutenant Eric Francis Joseph Reeves, M.C., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 8th February, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant—as from 30th January, 1917 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 170, of the 22nd November, 1917).

Lieutenant Thomas Gains Vincent, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 11th July, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant—as from 31st August, 1914 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 103, of the 24th September, 1914).

2nd Lieutenant John Coull, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 9th January, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant—as from 27th August, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 128, of the 11th November, 1915).

Lieutenant Harold Charles Patchett, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 9th February, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant—as from 16th November, 1911 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 8, of the 1st February, 1912).

2nd Lieutenant William Russell, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 11th January, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant—as from the 27th March, 1917 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 150, of 4th October, 1917). The notification published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 180, of 20th December, 1917, relating to 2nd Lieutenant Douglas Warren Russell, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is cancelled.

Special Order made by the Wairau Road Board altering Boundaries of Subdivisions.

THE following special order, made by the Wairau Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

WAIRAU ROAD BOARD.

In accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908, notice is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Wairau Road Board held on Friday, the 7th day of September, 1917, the following resolution was passed, and will be submitted for confirmation at the ordinary meeting of the Board to be held on the 2nd day of November, 1917, at 10.30 a.m., at the office of the Board, High Street, Blenheim.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 12 of the Road Boards Act, 1908, the Wairau Road Board, on the petition of two-thirds of the ratepayers of the Wairau Road District, hereby resolves by way of special order as follows:—

  1. The said subdivisions of Wairau Valley and Waihopai of the Wairau Road District shall be divided into three subdivisions, to be called respectively the North Bank, Wairau Valley, and Waihopai subdivisions, which said subdivisions are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The members of the said Wairau Road Board shall be elected as follows:—

(a.) The ratepayers of the North Bank Subdivision shall elect one member.

(b.) The ratepayers of the Wairau Valley Subdivision shall elect two members.

(c.) The ratepayers of the Waihopai Subdivision shall elect three members.

(d.) The ratepayers of the Fairhall Subdivision shall elect two members.

  1. This special order shall take effect on the 1st day of April, 1919.

SCHEDULE.

North Bank Subdivision.—All that area in the Wairau Road District commencing at a point on the south-eastern side of the Wairau River where it crosses the western boundary of the said Wairau Road District; thence bounded on the west in a north-westerly direction to the most westerly point of the Wairau Road District; thence bounded on the north-west, north, and north-east by the north-western, northern, and north-eastern boundary-lines of the Wairau Road District to the confluence of the Onamalutu River with the Wairau River; thence by the north-eastern boundary-line of the Wairau Road District to the south bank of the said Wairau River; thence in a south-westerly direction along the southern boundary of the Wairau River to the point aforesaid where the said Wairau River crosses the south-western boundary of the said Wairau Road District.

Wairau Valley Subdivision.—All that area in the Wairau Road District commencing at a point on the south-eastern
