Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.

Captain Andrew William Alexander Richardson, Unattached List (b), General List, is appointed an Attesting Officer under the Military Service Act, 1916. Dated 3rd October, 1917.

Captain Alexander Kinder, M.B., B.S., F.R.C.S. Eng., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board and granted the pay of Lieut.-Colonel at Expeditionary Force rates whilst so acting. Dated 12th January, 1918.

Captain (temp.) Henry Caldwell Tait, M.B., B.S., N.Z., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board and granted the pay of a Lieut.-Colonel at Expeditionary Force rates whilst so acting. Dated 10th January, 1918.

Lieutenant Stanley Moxham Dixon, 7th (Wellington West Coast) Regiment, is appointed Group Commander, No. 20 (Wanganui) Group (temp.), and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 20th August, 1917.

PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.

3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain Walter Ernest Carter to be Major, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 1st November, 1917.

Lieutenant Osmond Henry to be Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 1st November, 1917.

The following is substituted for the notice which appeared in the New Zealand Gazette No. 117, of the 19th July, 1917, relating to Major Charles Victor Leeming:—

Major Charles Victor Leeming, M.C., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 4th August, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major—as from 29th December, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 161, of the 25th October, 1917).

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

New Zealand Railway Battalions (South Island).

Captain Hamlin Tuly Thomas resigns his commission. Dated 7th October, 1916.

1ST (CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.

Captain John Lawson Turnbull, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 14th July, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant—as from 19th August, 1913 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 50, of the 21st May, 1914).

The following is substituted for the notice which appeared in the New Zealand Gazette No. 180, of the 20th December, 1917, relating to 2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Francis D'Oyley Mears, Unattached List (b):—

Francis D'Oyley Mears to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 16th October, 1917.

3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY'S OWN).

Sergeant John Canning Dove to be 2nd Lieutenant, supernumerary to Establishment. Dated 7th January, 1918.

4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.

Captain Dudley Harcourt Sheppard Buddle is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 8th January, 1918.

COAST DEFENCE DETACHMENT.

Company Sergeant-Major Frederick Stuart North to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 8th January, 1918.

5TH (WELLINGTON) REGIMENT.

Captain Bernard Russell Lankhear, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 28th August, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant as from 21st August, 1913 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 71, of the 25th September, 1913).

Captain Philip Vernon Hackworth, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 8th February, 1918, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant—as from 18th June, 1917 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 115, of the 12th July, 1917).

RESERVE OF OFFICERS.

Captain Alexander Morris MacDiarmid, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 23rd December, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank—viz., Captain.

Lieutenant William Varley Smith, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant—to date from 15th February, 1917.

13TH (NORTH CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND) REGIMENT.

Lieutenant Hyde Horatio Herring to be Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 7th January, 1918.

14TH (SOUTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants (temp.) to be Lieutenants (temp.). Dated 27th November, 1917:—

James Stevens.

Thomas Devonald Pearson.

Alexander Francis Duthie.

16TH (WAIKATO) REGIMENT.

Major Alfred Ernest McDonald, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 8th February, 1918, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major—as from 18th September, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 113, of the 5th October, 1916).

17TH (RUAHINE) REGIMENT.

Lieutenant Alfred John Price, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 5th December, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant—as from 30th September, 1912 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 81, of the 31st October, 1912).
