Captain James Garfield Crawford, M.B., M.R.C.S., Eng., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 16th April, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 23rd June, 1914 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 69, of the 30th July, 1914).

Captain Theodore Grant Gray, M.B., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 27th March, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 1st August, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 83, of the 3rd August, 1916).

Lieutenant John Southward is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 4th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 19th November, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 141, of the 13th November, 1917).

2nd Lieutenant Victor Lionel Powell is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 28th April, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 20th April, 1917 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139, of the 6th September, 1917).

2nd Lieutenant Leslie Frazier Tisdall is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 4th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 11th November, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant John Spink Hudson is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 10th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 27th March, 1917 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 150, of the 4th October, 1917).

2nd Lieutenant Aubrey Wilfred Israel is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 5th May, 1918, and is posted to the Unattached List (b), General List, with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 24th May, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant Edgar Herries Young is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 3rd May, 1918, and is posted to the Unattached List (b), General List, with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 2nd June, 1917.

CORRIGENDA.

With reference to the notification published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 128, of the 11th November, 1915, relating to 2nd Lieutenant Archibald Lawrence Treadwell, for the words “ex Lieutenant 9th (Wellington West Coast) Regiment” read “2nd Lieutenant Charles Archibald Lawrence Treadwell, Unattached List (b), General List.”

With reference to the notification published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 62, of the 25th May, 1916, under the heading “Infantry,” for the words “2nd Lieutenant Herbert Neville Chapman, Unattached List (b), General List” read “2nd Lieutenant Herbert Neville Clapham, Unattached List (b), General List.”

MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.

Special Order declaring Noxious Weeds.

Pursuant to the powers conferred upon it by the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Mount Roskill Road Board hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, that the plants stated in the Schedule hereto, being the plants mentioned in the Third Schedule of the said Act, are noxious weeds within the Mount Roskill Road District:—

African boxthorn (Lycium horridum).
Bathurst burr (Xanthium spinosum).
Broom (Cytisus scoparius).
Burdock (Arctium, any species).
Capeweed (Cryptostemma calendulacea).
Dock (Rumex, any species).
Elderberry (Sambucus niger).
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea).
Giant burdock (Arctium majus).
Goat’s rue (Galega officinalis).
Gorse (Ulex europaeus).
Hakea (Hakea acicularis).
Hemlock (Conium maculatum).
Kangaroo acacia (Acacia armata).
Lupin (Lupinus luteus).
Ox-eye daisy (Chrysanthemum leucanthemum).
Penny-cress or Canadian stinkweed (Thlaspi arvense).
Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium).
Periwinkle (Vinca major).
St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum or H. humifusum).
Tahina, or New Zealand cotton-wood (Cassinia leptophylla).
Thistles, any species.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Mount Roskill Road Board held on the 12th day of March, 1918, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting held on the 16th April, 1918; and that the seal of the body corporate, the inhabitants of the Mount Roskill Road District, was affixed hereto by direction of the Board on the 16th April, 1918.

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that, in accordance with the wish of His Majesty the King, His Majesty’s Birthday will be observed this year on the actual date, the 3rd June, 1918.

His Majesty desires that in the matter of ceremonial observance the precedent of last year should be strictly followed in all respects—namely, flags should be flown, but no dinners, reviews, salutes, or other celebration should take place.
