Appointments, Promotions, and Retirements of Officers of the Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and retirements of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force:—
APPOINTMENT.
Captain (temp. Major) Arthur Stanley Herbert, M.B., M.R.C.S., Eng., N.Z. Medical Corps, is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel whilst employed as Principal Medical Officer, King George Hospital, Rotorua. Dated 1st April, 1918.
PROMOTIONS AND RETIREMENTS.
1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).
Captain (Quartermaster) James Alfred Northcote retires under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, 1913, and is granted the honorary rank of Major. Dated 4th April, 1918.
5TH (WELLINGTON) REGIMENT.
Reserve of Officers.
Major William George Wray, M.C., is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 8th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank—viz., Captain, as from 19th May, 1913 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 46, of the 12th June, 1913).
10TH (NORTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant Hugh McIntyre is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 4th May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 18th August, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 103, of the 14th September, 1916).
12TH (NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH) REGIMENT.
Reserve of Officers.
Captain Griffiths Lewis is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 10th May, 1918, and is absorbed with his original rank—viz., Lieutenant, as from 13th December, 1905 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 52, of the 13th June, 1912).
NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE.
(Earl of Liverpool’s Own) Territorial.
Lieutenant Cyprian Everard Bridge is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 15th April, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 1st February, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 28, of the 28th February, 1918).
2nd Lieutenant Charles George Baker is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 3rd May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 27th May, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139, of the 14th December, 1916).
2nd Lieutenant Ernest Lewer, M.C., is struck off the strength of the Expeditionary Force, with effect from 4th May, 1918, and is posted to the regiment with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 26th August, 1916.
2nd Lieutenant Harold Walter Reed is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 4th May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 23rd September, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139, of the 14th September, 1916).
2nd Lieutenant Frank Cook is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 3rd May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 14th October, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 139, of the 14th December, 1916).
2nd Lieutenant Spenceley Walker is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 4th May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 6th December, 1916.
2nd Lieutenant Charles Stanley Brown is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, with effect from 3rd May, 1918, and is absorbed into the regiment with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 6th December, 1916.
NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain (temp. Major) Charles Evans Maguire, M.D., is granted the temporary rank of Lieut.-Colonel. Dated 11th February, 1918.
Carrick Hey Robertson, M.B., F.R.C.S., Eng., to be temporary Lieut.-Colonel. Dated 11th February, 1918.
Edwin Henry Britton Milsom, M.D., to be temporary Major. Dated 11th February, 1918.
