Second-class Land.

SECTION 2, Block II: Area, 395 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £3,370. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £84 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £67 8s.

Land is of first-class quality, comprising easy slopes and low hills, with small flats along river suitable for homestead-site, yards, &c., covered with light bush, principally tawa, with sprinkling of rimu, kahikatea, puriri, and totara. Suitable for grazing and fattening stock when cleared. Situated about twenty-seven miles from Gisborne, of which distance sixteen miles and three-quarters is by the main coast road.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Opening Settlement Lands in Canterbury Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto, which have been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Tuesday, the fourth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT. — ELLESMERE COUNTY. — LEESTON AND SOUTHBRIDGE SURVEY DISTRICTS.—LEESTON SETTLEMENT.

First-class Land.

SECTION 1: Area, 36 acres 3 roods 37 perches; capital value, £1,530; half-yearly rent, £34 8s. 6d.

Section 3: Area, 65 acres 3 roods 39 perches; capital value, £2,610; half-yearly rent, £58 14s. 6d.

Good, flat, agricultural land in grass and stubble. Situated about half a mile from Leeston Railway-station by good road. The right is reserved to take water from the creek in Section 3 by existing 4 in. pipe and open ditch southward to Mr. W. Holley’s homestead.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Notice of Change of the Purpose of a Reserve in the Town of Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay Land District.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section six of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), the Governor-General is empowered in the case of any public reserve vested in His Majesty or the Governor-General, for any of the purposes comprised in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act, to change the purpose for which such reserve was set apart to any other purpose:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto was heretofore duly set apart as a site for a drill-shed, being a purpose within Class II in the Second Schedule to the said Act, and it is expedient to change, as hereinafter provided, the purpose for which such reserve was so set apart.

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers conferred on me by section six of the said Act, as aforesaid, declare that the purpose of the said reserve is hereby changed from a site for a drill-shed to a site for public buildings of the General Government: And I do hereby further declare that this notice is issued subject to the provisions of section seven of the said Act, and shall take effect according to the provisions of that section.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 19 perches, more or less, being portion of Section 374, Town of Gisborne, commencing at a point on the south-east side of Customhouse Street 282·2 links from the junction of that street and Gladstone Road. Bounded towards the north-west by Customhouse Street, 61 links; towards the south-west by other part of Section 374, 205·6 links; towards the south-east by Read’s Quay, 63·1 links; and towards the north-east by other part of Section 374, 187·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this sixth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

Appointing Public Places in the Ohai Railway District for Deposit of Plan and Book of Reference under the Local Railways Act, 1914.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section 51, subsection (1), of the Local Railways Act, 1914, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the places mentioned in the Schedule hereto for the deposit of the plan setting forth the middle-line and direction of the extension of the Wairoa to Moretown Railway, and of the book of reference showing the lands required to be taken for the same, and the names of the owners and occupiers of such lands so far as the same can be ascertained.

Amended Regulations in respect of Timber-cutting Rights under the Mining Act, 1908.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Mining Act, 1908, and its amendments, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby amend, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the regulations made under the said Act on the third day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the Gazette of the fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen.

SCHEDULE.

  1. SUBCLAUSE 3 of clause 112 is hereby amended by adding the following:—

“Provided that such fee shall be deemed to be in or towards satisfaction of the amount payable by the warrant-holder for royalty under the next succeeding subclause, and in assessing the amount of royalty payment shall be demanded only of the amount by which such royalty exceeds the fee so paid.”

  1. Subclause 2 of clause 114 is hereby amended by deleting the words “6d. per hundred feet superficial measurement of the trees before cutting,” and substituting the following words: “an amount equal to royalty, calculated in accordance with the Fourth Schedule hereto, on the estimated product of such tree.”

  2. The First Schedule is hereby amended as follows:—

Form 68.—By deleting the words “one year” in the first line of the third paragraph, and substituting the words “five years.”
