RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL ORDER AMENDING TRAFFIC BY-LAWS.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Counties Act, 1908, the Public Works Act, 1908, and the various Acts amending the same respectively, and all other Acts and powers whatsoever it in this behalf enabling, the Council of the County of Raglan (hereinafter called “the Council”) doth hereby make and ordain, by special order, the by-law following, to come into force on the Ist day of May, 1918:
Clause 10 of the Council's By-law No. 2, intituled “Regulating Traffic,” is hereby amended by repealing and omitting the last paragraph in said clause 10, commencing at the word “Provided” and ending at the word “hundredweight”; and in lieu thereof the following paragraph is hereby enacted and substituted,
“Provided always that in no case during the months of May, June, July, August, or September shall any person engage, use, or employ as owner or driver thereof any vehicle carrying a greater load than one ton upon any of the roads under the care, control, or management of the Council.”
The penalty for breach of this clause shall be that prescribed by clause 15 of the said By-law No. 2.
The above resolution was duly passed as a special order at a special meeting of the County of Raglan held on the 15th day of January, 1918, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 13th day of March, 1918.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Raglan has hereunto been affixed this 13th day of March, 1918, in the presence of—

RESOLUTION.
THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Thames Jockey Club at a meeting held on the 28th day of February, 1918, at 7.30 p.m., with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. A. Bruce, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.
Mr. A. Bruce, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. A. Rae seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.
The following are the regulations referred to:—
THAMES JOCKEY CLUB.
REGULATIONS.
(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Thames Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the club’s property situate at Parawai, Thames, set apart for racing purposes, and known as Parawai Racecourse, as the same is described in the Act, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.
- In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.
- The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the part of the said reserve while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—
(a.) Bookmakers.
(b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.
(c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.
The foregoing regulations of the Thames Jockey Club were made and passed by the Thames Jockey Club on the 28th day of February, 1918, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

HORAHORA SPECIAL-AREA LOAN.
RESOLUTION LEVYING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Matamata County Council hereby resolves as follows :
That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest on a loan of £2,500, authorized to be raised by the Matamata County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for metalling a road for the first time, the said Matamata County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 24/37ths of a penny (1d.) in the pound (£) upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Horahora Special Area, in the Maungatautari Riding of the Matamata County; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, or until the loan is fully paid off; and that the first year’s instalments and the cost of raising the loan shall be paid out of the loan.
I hereby declare that the foregoing resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Matamata County Council held on the 8th day of March, 1918.

PIAKO COUNTY.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Piako County Council hereby resolves as follows :
That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of three thousand pounds, authorized to be raised by the Piako County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of metalling the Piakoiti Valley Road, the said Piako County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of nine-tenths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the following boundaries :
All that area in the Land District of Auckland, in Blocks III and IV, Cambridge Survey District, and Blocks XII and XVI, Maungakawa Survey District, bounded commencing at a point where the south-eastern corner of Section 1 of Block IV, Cambridge S.D., connects with the Mangapapa River, and running in a north-westerly direction for a direct distance of about 264 chains, connects at a point on the Piakonui River, then by following the said Piakonui River in a south-westerly direction for a distance of about 195 chains ; thence by the county boundary in a westerly direction for a distance of about 130 chains to the southern-most corner of section in Block Tawawhakapuoro, then in a northerly direction along the boundary of Section 3, Block III, Cambridge S.D., for a distance of about 350 chains to the most north-westerly corner, and across the northern boundary in an easterly direction to Section 6, Richmond Downs Subdivision ; thence in a northerly direction to where the said No. 6 connects with the Piakonui River, a distance of about 50 chains, then following the northern boundary of No. 6 in an easterly direction for about 45 chains, then by a direct line to the south-west corner of Section 5, Te Pae-o-Tu-Rawaru, Block XVI, Maungakawa S.D., and along the southern boundary of the said No. 5 for a distance of about 28 chains to a point about midway across the eastern boundary of Section 12, Te Pae-o-Tu-Rawaru ; thence in a direct line across Section 12 to the Piakoiti Valley Road, then in a north-easterly direction through Section 5, Te Pae-o-Tu-Rawaru, Block XII, Wairere, for a distance of about 42
