whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

MANGAEHUEHU SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 197 acres, more or less, being Section 33, Block V, Karioi Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by the Town of Rangataua, 6277·3 links; towards the north-east by a public road, 1496·3 links; towards the east generally by Mangaehuehu Stream; and towards the south-west generally by the Ohakune-Waiouru Road: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 657/38, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

CATLIN’S RIVER.

All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres, more or less, being Section 31, Block I, Woodland Survey District, an island in the Catlin’s River Estuary, opposite sections numbered 3 and 4 of said Block I. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 4/138, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-second day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Additional Land at Rotowaro taken for the Purposes of the Huntly-Awaroa Branch of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Huntly-Awaroa Railway to take further land at Rotowaro, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:

And whereas it is desirable to take only the surface of such land for the purposes hereinafter specified, together with a portion of the subsoil thereof:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-nine and one hundred and eighty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1908, and section seven of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, and of every other power and authority in any-wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the surface of the land mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, together with that part of the subsoil of such land below the formation levels of the said railway shown on the plan marked W.R. 24890, deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington, as is described in the Second Schedule hereto, is hereby taken for the purposes aforesaid.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

PIECES OF LAND OF WHICH SURFACE IS TAKEN.

APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of land: 4 acres 0 roods 36 perches, and 2 acres.

Portions of Section 78B, Pepepe Parish, Block XIV, Rangiriri Survey District, Raglan County. (S.O. 19580, blue.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked W.R. 24890, deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

SUBSOIL TAKEN.

As to the areas mentioned in the First Schedule: All the subsoil down to a plane 100 ft. below and approximately parallel to the said line of formation-levels, such plane being horizontal transversely to the said line of formation-levels.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the Purposes of a Road in the County of Manukau.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of land taken for the purposes of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway, and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister of Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in the County of Manukau, the local authority of which has assented to the issue of this Proclamation:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor-General is of opinion that the said local authority can conveniently construct and maintain the said road:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be under the control of the Manukau County Council, and shall be maintained by the said Council in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Council.

Portion of railway reserve, Block XIV, Otahuhu Survey District, Manukau County. (S.O. 19393, blue.)

In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked W.R. 24390, deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured purple.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this eighteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.
