Opening Settlement Lands in Wellington Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SECTION 9, Block I : Area, 388 acres O roods 27 perches. Capital value, £390. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £7 16s.
Altitude, 300 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. Broken country, with a few burnt-forest clearings; balance mixed forest comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, totara, about twenty kauri-trees, taraire, rewarewa, towai, and kohekohe. Clay soil, stony in places; well watered by permanent stream. Distant about four miles from Towai Railway-station by formed cart-road.

Authorizing Captain Percival Henry Hall-Thompson to take Possession of all Apparatus for Wireless Telegraphy on Board Merchant Ships.
WHEREAS an emergency has arisen in which it is expedient in the public interest that His Majesty's Government shall have control over the transmission of messages by wireless telegraphy: Now, therefore, I, Joseph George Ward, the Minister of Telegraphs of New Zealand, in pursuance of clause 5 of the regulations for the control of ships carrying wireless telegraph apparatus while within territorial waters or harbours of New Zealand, made on the 30th day of January, 1918, and gazetted on the 31st day of January, 1918, do hereby authorize Captain Percival Henry Hall-Thompson, C.M.G., R.N., to take possession of or to cause all apparatus for wireless telegraphy on board any merchant ship (being a foreign merchant ship or a British merchant ship not registered in New Zealand), while in the territorial waters of New Zealand, or any part of such apparatus, to be taken possession of in the name and on behalf of His Majesty for His Majesty's service, and, subject thereto, for such ordinary services as to the said Captain Percival Henry Hall-Thompson may seem fit.
