ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LICENSE.

Term of license, twenty-one years, with a conditional right of renewal and right to acquire the freehold of the surface only, with no right to acquire possession of minerals, metals, or valuable stone existing under the area.

Rent payable in advance on 1st March and 1st September in each year.

Applicants to be seventeen years of age and upwards.

Applicants to furnish statutory declaration with applications, and, on being declared successful, deposit £1 1s. license fee and a half-year’s rent. Rent for the broken period between date of lease and 1st March or 1st September following is also payable.

Applications made on the same day are deemed to be simultaneous.

Successful applicants to execute license within thirty days after being notified that it is ready for signature.

Residence is to commence within four years in bush land or swamp land, and within one year in open or partly open land, and to be continuous for a period of ten years.

Improvements.—Licensee is required to improve the land within one year to the value of 10 per cent. of the price; within two years, to the value of another 10 per cent. of the price; and thereafter, but within six years, to the value of another 10 per cent. of the price. In addition to the foregoing, and within six years, improvements are also to be effected to the value of £1 for every acre of first-class land, and 10s. for every acre of second-class land.

Licensee to pay all rates, taxes, and assessments.

Licensee may not transfer within ten years from date of license, except with consent.

Licensee has no right to dispose of sawmilling timber.

The right is reserved to the Crown to grant licenses to cut timber and other rights appurtenant thereto, and free right of access must be allowed to the holders of such licenses and their employees.

Holders of miners’ rights have right to prospect.

The Warden may grant mining privileges subject to compensation for improvements only.

The licensee has no claim to compensation on account of any injury to stock resulting from sawmilling or mining operations.

License is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.
Application forms and plans containing full particulars, and copies of the regulations for the occupation of pastoral land within the Hauraki Mining District, can be obtained from the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland.

Land in the Auckland Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 16th December, 1918.
The lands may be selected for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 18th December, 1918, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Mongonui County.—Kaiaka Parish.
SECTIONS 14 and 15: Area, 222 acres 1 rood 38 perches; capital value, £340; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £17; half-yearly rent on lease, £7 13s.
Broken country, about 200 acres covered with heavy mixed forest, balance fern. The forest comprises principally taraire, totara, and puriri, and two or three kauri-trees, with thick undergrowth of supplejack, nikau, &c. Soil sandy clay of fair quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Access is by formed road, about fifteen miles from Mongonui and eight miles from Oruru Dairy Factory.
Tauranga County.—Te Tumu Survey District.
Section 13, Block I: Area, 133 acres 0 roods 20 perches; capital value, £670; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £33 10s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £15 1s. 6d.
Section 14, Block I: Area, 133 acres 0 roods 36 perches; capital value, £670; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £33 10s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £15 1s. 6d.
Altitude, 1 ft. to 12 ft. above sea-level. Level land, about half swamp, raupo and rushes; balance fern and manuka scrub. Soil of a sandy nature, on pumice formation; good water can only be obtained by sinking about 20 ft. Distant about four miles from Papamoa Railway-station by formed road.
Waitomo County.—Pirongia Survey District.
Section 10A, Block VII: Area, 168 acres 1 rood 24 perches; capital value, £340; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £17; half-yearly rent on lease, £7 13s.
Altitude, 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Hilly land, mostly fern spurs. Soil fair to good in quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Distant six miles from Pirongia by formed road.
Section 6, Block VIII: Area, 125 acres 2 roods 38 perches; capital value, £380; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £19; half-yearly rent on lease, £8 11s.
Section 7, Block VIII: Area, 120 acres 1 rood 38 perches; capital value, £360; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £18; half-yearly rent on lease, £8 2s.
Sections 6 and 7.—Fern land, flat to easy slopes. There is some blackberry on sections, and rabbits are numerous. Soil of very fair quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Distant about three miles from Pokuru Cheese-factory, post-office, and school by wagon-track.
Waitomo County.—Mangaorongo Survey District.
Section 27, Block IX: Area, 466 acres; capital value, £1,170; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £58 10s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £26 6s. 6d.
Altitude, 200 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Easy to undulating country, covered with fern, tutu, and manuka scrub. Light soil of medium quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by stream, swamps, and springs. Distant about twelve miles from Otorohanga by formed road, eight miles of which is metalled.

Wallace County.—Jacobs River Hundred.
SECTION 45, Block VIII: Area, 299 acres 1 rood 18 perches; capital value, £585; instalment or deferred payment (excluding interest), £29 5s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £13 3s. 3d.
Chiefly hilly bush country, with broad-topped spurs. Soil generally good, well watered. Suitable for pastoral purposes or dairying when cleared. Access by formed road. About two miles and a quarter from Fairfax. About 12 acres of this section is open, and grassed with couch.
The section is subject to timber and tramway rights until same are cancelled by the Land Board.
