FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan of £27,000 for Waiau-Karaka Special Rating Area.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Waiau-Karaka Special Rating Area in Franklin County was taken on the 6th day of September, 1918, on the proposal of the Franklin County Council to borrow the sum of £27,000 for the purpose of construction of main roads within the Waiau-Karaka Special Rating Area (including the payment of compensation for land required to be taken for any deviation or deviations found to be necessary on such roads, the purchase or hire of any horses, plant, and machinery required to carry out such work, and such other costs, charges, and expenses as the Franklin County Council may determine to have been actually incurred in connection with such loan), as follows:—

(a.) Patumahoe to Waiau Road, from the north-eastern corner of Section 16, Waiau Parish, to the Waiau Pa Wharf.

(b.) Waiau to Papakura Road, from the Patumahoe to Waiau Road at the south-eastern corner of Section 70, Waiau Parish, to the Hingaia Bridge.

(c.) Waiuku to Drury Road, from the Mauku Bridge at the southernmost corner of Section 20, Waiau Parish, to the Karaka No. 2 School opposite the easternmost corner of Section 233, Karaka Parish.

(d.) Karaka to Waiau Road, from Waiuku–Drury Road at Karaka No. 2 School corner to the Te Hihi School corner at Section 30, Karaka Parish, on Waiau to Papakura Road.

(e.) Karaka to Papakura Road, from the Karaka to Waiau Road at Black Bridge corner to the Waiau to Papakura Road at Costar’s and Smale’s corner.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 179, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 38. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Tamaki West Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

TAMAKI WEST ROAD BOARD.

Notice of Result of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Tamaki West Road District was taken on the 29th day of August, 1918, on proposals to raise special loans of £6,000 for foreshore protection works in the district, and £1,500 for the erection of a public hall at St. Heliers, the purpose of such proposals being fully set forth in the New Zealand Herald and Auckland Star of 31st July, and 7th, 14th, and 21st August, being newspapers circulating in the district.

The number of valid votes recorded for the first-mentioned proposal was .. .. .. 140
The number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was .. .. .. 102

The total number of valid votes recorded was .. 242

The number of valid votes recorded for the second-mentioned proposal was .. .. .. 114
The number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was .. .. .. 125

The total number of valid votes recorded was .. 239

I therefore declare both the proposals rejected.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Pukekohe, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF PUKEKOHE.

Result of Poll.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Pukekohe, on the proposal to borrow a sum of £2,500 for the purchase of a site for a Technical High School in the said Borough of Pukekohe was taken on the 4th day of September, 1918.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 98, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 15. I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Exportation of Tallow to the United States.

Customs’ Department,
Wellington, 18th September, 1918.

IT is notified for general information that applications for permits to export definite quantities of tallow to the United States will be considered if forwarded to the Comptroller of Customs, Wellington.

The conditions set out in Gazette notice published 25th July, 1918, will no longer be enforced.

The name of the exporting ship and date of sailing should be stated in each application.

It will still be necessary for the consignees in the United States to obtain licenses for importation into that country.
