Power.—1,300 candles.

HENRY ELLIS REEF.—LIGHT-BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that a light-buoy, showing a group flashing red light, will be established off Henry Ellis Reef on or about 16th August, 1918.
Position.—The light-buoy will be moored in about 15 fathoms of water at a distance of about 2 cables off the north-eastern end of Henry Ellis Reef. Position will be approximately lat. 12° 5′ S., long. 131° E., on Chart 1095.
Description.—A cylindrical light-buoy with framework superstructure painted black and numbered “5,” exhibiting a group flashing red light showing four flashes in quick succession every thirty seconds—thus, flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 25 secs.
Power.—1,300 candles.
Visibility.—Eight miles.

EAST VERNON ISLAND.—LIGHT-BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED OFF THE SOUTH-WESTERN EXTREMITY OF ISLAND.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that a light-buoy, showing a flashing white light, will be established off the south-western extremity of East Vernon Island, on or about 20th August, 1918.
Position.—The light-buoy will be moored in about 15 fathoms of water at a distance of about 1½ cables from the extremity of the spit on the south-western end of East Vernon Island. Position will be approximately lat. 12° 4⅔′ S., long. 131° 3′ E., on Chart 1095.

ROOPER ROCK—LIGHT-BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that a light-buoy, showing a group-flashing white light, will be established off the Rooper Rock on or about 24th August, 1918.
Position.—The light-buoy will be moored in about 10 fathoms of water at a distance of about ¾ mile east-south-east of Rooper Rock. Position will be approximately lat. 12° 4½′ S., long. 131° 11½′ E., on Chart 1095.
Description.—A cylindrical light-buoy with framework superstructure painted red and numbered “3,” exhibiting a group flashing white light showing two flashes in quick succession every fifteen seconds—thus, flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 13 secs.

VAN DIEMEN GULF.—HOWARD KNOLL.—LIGHT-BUOY TO BE ESTABLISHED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that a light-buoy, showing a group flashing red light, will be established off Howard Knoll on or about 28th August, 1918.
Position.—The light-buoy will be moored in about 10 fathoms of water at a distance of about 1 mile north-north-east of Howard Knoll. Position will be approximately lat. 11° 59¾′ S., long. 131° 18¾′ E., on Chart 1095.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that a light-buoy, showing a group flashing white light, will be established off Cape Keith on or about 1st September, 1918.

Position.—The light-buoy will be moored in about 15 fathoms of water at a distance of about 14 miles south-eastward of Cape Keith. Position will be approximately lat. 11° 46′ S., long. 131° 36′ E., on Chart 613.

SOUTH COAST, GULF OF ST. VINCENT.—MARION REEF LIGHT (U).—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the flashing red light on Marion Reef will be replaced by a group flashing white light on or about 16th September, 1918.
Position.—On the south-eastern end of Marion Reef. Lat. 35° 10′ S., long. 137° 49′ E.
Structure.—Steel skeleton tower painted red, in position of former tower. Height, 41 ft.
Details.—The flashing red light will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics:—
Character.—Group flashing white light showing three flashes in quick succession every nine seconds—thus, flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 6 secs.
Elevation.—38 ft.
Visibility.—11 miles.
Power.—1,500 candles.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. No further notice will be given.

DANGEROUS REEF LIGHT (U).—INTENDED ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the flashing white light on Dangerous Reef will be altered as set out hereunder, on or about 1st October, 1918.
Position.—Lat. 34° 49′ S., long. 136° 12′ E.
Structure.—Steel skeleton tower, painted red, in position of former tower. Height, 42 ft.
Details.—The flashing white light showing one flash every seven and a half seconds will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics:—
Character.—Flashing white light, showing one flash every three seconds—thus, flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅔ secs.
Elevation.—47 ft.
Visibility.—12 miles.
Power.—1,500 candles.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. No further notice will be given.

Winceby Island Light (U).—Intended Alteration in Character.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the flashing white light on Winceby Island will be replaced by a group flashing white light on or about 15th October, 1918.
Position.—Lat. 34° 29′ S., long. 136° 17′ E.
Structure.—Steel skeleton tower painted white, in position of former tower. Height, 27 ft.
Details.—The flashing white light will be replaced by a new light having the undermentioned characteristics:—
Character.—Group flashing white light, showing two flashes in quick succession every six seconds—thus, flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 4⅓ secs.
Elevation.—47 ft.
Visibility.—12 miles.
Power.—1,500 candles.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. No further notice will be given.
