Land in Southland Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Southland Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Section 9, Block XIX, Longwood.

TENURE: R.L. Lease No. 74; formerly held by Randolph Walton Horrell. Reasons for forfeiture: Non-residence and insufficient improvements.

Timber in the Marlborough Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Blenheim, 13th August, 1918.

NOTICE is hereby given that the right to cut and remove the timber on the undermentioned land will be offered for sale by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Wednesday, 25th September, 1918, at 2.30 o’clock p.m., under the provisions of the State Forests Act, 1908, and the Timber Regulations thereunder.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.

SECTION 7, Block II, Heringa: Area, 55 acres; situated near Flat Creek, which is about forty-eight miles from Blenheim and thirty-two miles from Nelson.

Estimated to contain: Rimu, 109,090 superficial feet; white-pine, 42,328 superficial feet; matai, 30,110 superficial feet; totara, 1,635 superficial feet.

Upset price, £100.

CONDITIONS OF SALE.

  1. The timber will be sold generally in accordance with the provisions of the State Forest Act, 1908, the Timber Regulations thereunder, and the following conditions.

  2. The quantities of various timbers set forth in the above Schedule are approximate only, and are furnished for the information of intending purchasers, who are expected, previous to the sale, to make their own estimate of the quantity of timber. No contract for purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the licensee be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, and kind than as stated herein, nor shall any extra sum be claimed by the Crown if for any reason the quantity of timber is found to be in excess of that stated herein.

  3. The successful tenderer shall, on the fall of the hammer, pay to the Receiver of Land Revenue the amount bid, together with £1 1s. license fee.

  4. Timber to be cut within twelve months from date of sale.

  5. The licensee shall not put, throw, or place, or allow to be put, thrown, or placed, into any river, stream, or watercourse, or into any place where it may be washed into any river, stream, or watercourse, any sawdust, or other sawmill refuse.

  6. No compensation will be given nor shall any be claimed for any error, discrepancy, or misdescription whatever in respect of the timber in these conditions.

  7. White-pine (kahikatea) must not be exported, but is to be disposed of for the benefit of the dairying industry within the Dominion.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for sale by public auction, for cash, at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, at 11 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 28th August, 1918, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and its amendments.

The Town of Mawaihakona is situated between the Trentham Railway-station, racecourse, and main Hutt Road, within two miles from the Upper Hutt Township. It comprises flat land, with fair soil, but stony, on a gravel formation, and valuable owing to the proximity of the racecourse, golf-links, &c. Some of the lots are partly covered with patches of scrubby birch.

An opportunity is now afforded of securing business or residence sites in close proximity to the Trentham Military Camp.

TERMS OF SALE.

One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1), within thirty days thereafter: otherwise the part of the purchase-money paid by way of deposit shall be forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land be null and void.

Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1908. Full particulars may be obtained at this office.

Land in the Auckland Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 30th July, 1918.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to four o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 24th September, 1918.

The lands may be selected for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, on Wednesday, 25th September, 1918, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—OTAMATEA COUNTY.—PARAHI SETTLEMENT.—MATAKOHE SURVEY DISTRICT.

First-class Land.

SECTION 5, Block V: Area, 138 acres; capital value, £2,033; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £100; half-yearly rent on lease, £45.

Altitude, 120 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. 136 acres easy hilly country, inclined to be a little steep at the north end, carrying good grass with short fern through it; 63 acres at south end easy slope, suitable for dairying; small patches light bush. Well watered. Ten miles and three-quarters from Ruawai—a quarter of a mile unformed, balance formed; six miles and a half from Matakohе by formed road.

The improvements on the section comprise fencing and old cow-shed, the values of which are included in the price of the section.
