Land and Electricity Notices

Aug. 15.] THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE. 2921

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations (except clause seventeen thereof) made under section two of the aforesaid Act and published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter referred to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee to erect and maintain electric lines for lighting, power, and heating purposes within the area of supply hereinafter described.

SCHEDULE.

  1. AREA OF SUPPLY.

THE area of supply comprises that portion of the Opotiki County in Blocks II, III, and VII, Opotiki Survey District, such area being more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 39350, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

  1. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.

The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (b) (1) of clause 2 of the regulations.

The generating voltage shall be approximately 460 volts between the terminals.

  1. COVERING OF OVERHEAD LINES.

Electric lines at low pressure shall be covered throughout with triple braiding, thoroughly impregnated with weather-proof compound, provided that where circumstances permit the lines may, with the previous consent of the Minister obtained, and before the work is commenced, be bare, subject to the following conditions:—

(a.) The electric lines upon which workmen are engaged shall be disconnected from the source of supply, but if a raised platform is used the electric lines need not be disconnected.

(b.) The licensee shall bear the cost of insulating and maintaining the insulation of all future Post and Telegraph wires where they cross the licensee’s electric lines, and also the cost of all special work which the Minister of Telegraphs may require to carry out in consequence of the licensee’s electric lines being bare.

(c.) When, in the opinion of the Minister of Telegraphs, it is considered advisable owing to the number of insulated wires that the bare electric lines at any crossing should be replaced by electric lines with vulcanized rubber of 600 megohm grade, the licensee shall insulate such bare electric lines when requested to do so by the Minister of Telegraphs.

Electric lines at high pressure shall be insulated with vulcanized rubber of at least 600 megohm grade; provided that where circumstances permit such lines may, with the previous consent of the Minister, and before the work is commenced, be bare and subject to such conditions as he may impose.

Electric lines at extra high pressure shall be bare.

Earthed neutral or intermediate conductors may in all cases be bare.

Every pole or support carrying extra-high-pressure electric lines or bare high-pressure electric lines shall have attached to it a plate marked “Danger—Live Wires.”

  1. DATUM TEMPERATURE.

For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be taken as 22 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. NOTICES OF EXTENSIONS, ETC.

Records of results of tests (Regulation 37), and notices re commencement of work (Regulation 44) and re extensions and alterations (Regulation 49), should be sent to the District Engineer, Public Works Office, Gisborne, and to the Telegraph Engineer of the district, or his deputy, at present stationed at Auckland.

  1. CHARGES FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY.

The charge for electrical energy shall not exceed 1s. per unit for lighting purposes, and 6d. per unit for motor-power, heating, or cooking purposes; provided that “lighting purposes” shall include the operation of motor generators for lighting purposes.

  1. DURATION OF LICENSE.

This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine; but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.

  1. REQUIREMENTS OF THE OPOTIKI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notwithstanding anything hereinbefore contained, the licensee shall not be entitled to erect, maintain, or use any electric lines within the Opotiki County except subject to such conditions, not inconsistent with the provisions of this license and the regulations relating thereto, as may from time to time be agreed upon between the licensee and the Opotiki County Council.

Acting Clerk of the Executive Council.
