Appointments and Promotions of Officers on Active Service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments and promotions of officers on active service with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (vide List No. 38, N.Z. Expeditionary Force Orders).

COMMANDS AND STAFF.

Lieutenant-Colonel H. Hart, D.S.O., to command the 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade, and is granted the temporary rank of Brigadier-General whilst so employed, to date from 15th March, 1917.

Mr. Henry Armitage Sanders to be Official Photographer to the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant whilst so employed, to date from 8th March, 1917.

AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant A. C. M. Finlayson is granted the temporary rank of Captain, to date from 9th February, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant) D. S. Manners relinquishes the temporary rank of Lieutenant on ceasing to perform the duties of Staff Captain, N.Z. Mounted Rifles Brigade, to date from 17th December, 1916.

CANTERBURY MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain (temp. Major) D. S. Murchison to be Major, to date from 12th December, 1916.

Lieutenant G. N. Taylor, to date from 21st January, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant (now Lieutenant) J. E. L. Gardner is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst commanding a medium trench mortar battery, from 29th May, 1916, to 9th November, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant T. J. Ennis is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant, to date from 27th December, 1916.

NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

Field Companies.

2nd Lieutenant H. W. Newman to be Lieutenant, to date from 14th February, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant S. G. Browne is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant, to date from 14th January, 1917.

AUCKLAND REGIMENT.

Major D. B. Blair, M.C., N.Z.S.C., to be Lieutenant-Colonel, and to command a battalion, to date from 15th March, 1917.

Captain F. L. G. West is appointed temporarily to be 2nd in command of a battalion, and is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst so employed, to date from 10th February, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant S. T. Seddon, M.C., to be Adjutant, 2nd Battalion, and is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant whilst so employed, to date from 27th January, 1917.

Captain A. E. McDonald to be Major, to date from 15th January, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant H. W. H. Coates to be Lieutenant, to date from 16th February, 1917.

Captain A. C. Hubbard is granted the temporary rank of Major, to date from 2nd February, 1917.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 126, of 9th November, 1916, relating to 2nd Lieutenant Martin Blamfield, Unattached List (b), General List, should read “2nd Lieutenant Martin Blampied.”

CANTERBURY REGIMENT.
