  1. Travelling-allowance for a limited period may be allowed by the Quartermaster-General to a soldier transferred from one station to another. The maximum period for which such allowance may be paid shall be—
    At commencement of journey: Married, two days; single, one day.
    On arrival at destination: Married, seven days; single, two days.

REMOVAL OF FURNITURE.

  1. Reimbursement of cost of removing furniture shall be subject to the following limitations:—

In providing for cost of removal only necessary household furniture and effects shall be taken into consideration. In the case of mounted officers, warrant officers, and non-commissioned officers, their horses may be transferred at the public expense if the Officer Commanding the District considers it necessary in the interests of the Forces.

  1. Before removal is undertaken the soldier shall, where practicable, obtain offers from at least two carriers, and submit them through the usual channel to the Quartermaster-General, who may authorize the acceptance of the more suitable; provided that the maximum amount above stated is not exceeded.

  2. The General Officer Commanding may, in lieu of the actual cost of the removal, authorize payment to the soldier of a lump sum not exceeding the maximum prescribed for removal expenses.

127A. All permanent transfers shall be subject to the following conditions:—
(a.) A soldier shall not be entitled to any compensation from the Government for losses or damage arising from removal.
(b.) In all cases where military transport is available, it must be used.
(c.) During the present war no permanent transfer shall be ordered, unless approved by the Quartermaster-General.

Soldiers temporarily transferred for an indefinite period from one station to another shall be entitled to travelling-allowance for the first seven days and lodging-allowance thereafter. Under these conditions officers responsible shall take into consideration the question of which is the more economical method of transfer—i.e., permanent or temporary.
