WEST COAST.-GANTHEAUME POINT.-INTENDED
ALTERATION IN CHARACTERISTICS.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the white
occulting light on Gantheaume Point will be replaced by a
group flashing white light on or about 1st September, 1917.
Position.-Lat. 17° 58½' S., long. 122° 10½' E.
Character.-White group flashing, showing two flashes in
quick succession every six seconds-thus, flash 0·3 sec.,
eclipse 0·9 sec.; flash 0·3 sec., eclipse 4½ secs.
Power.-1,400 candles.
Note.-The light will be unwatched, the telephone discontinued, and the keeper withdrawn.
Remarks.-The other details of the light will remain unaltered. No further notice will be given.

EAST COAST.-ON OUTER BARRIER REEF.-PROPOSED
ESTABLISHMENT OF BEACON.
It is proposed to establish a beacon on the Outer Barrier
Reef near the entrance to the One-and-a-half-mile Opening.
The following are the particulars, viz. :-
Date.-The beacon will be erected as soon as convenient.
Position.-Lat. 14° 22' S., long. 145° 23' E.
Remarks.-The beacon, 14 ft. in height, triangular in shape,
and red in colour, will be erected on a rock, the top of which
is 13 ft. above high-water spring tides. The height of the
top of the beacon above high-water spring tides will be
approximately 27 ft.

TASMANIA.-EAST COAST.-CAPE FORESTIER.-INTENDED
NEW LIGHT.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the new light
on Cape Forestier will be exhibited experimentally on or
about 16th August, 1917.
Position.-On the north-eastern extreme of the cape.
Lat. 42° 11' S., long. 148° 23' E.
Character.-Group flashing light with white and red sectors
showing four flashes in quick succession every twenty seconds
-thus, flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.;
flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 15 secs.
Remarks.-The light will be unwatched. Further notice
stating bearings of sectors will be given.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA.-ALBANY.-NEW JETTY, PRINCESS
ROYAL HARBOUR.
Mariners are hereby notified that a fixed red light is now
being exhibited on the extreme west end of the New Jetty,
Princess Royal Harbour, Albany.

AWANUI RIVER.-BUOY ADRIFT.

NOTICE is hereby given that the red buoy opposite Rat
Island in Awanui Harbour has been reported to be
adrift from its moorings, and now lies some half-mile out of
the channel. It will be replaced as soon as possible.
Charts, &c., affected.-Nos. 2525 and 2520; “New Zealand
Pilot,” eighth edition, 1908, Chapter iii, page 51.

Zealand Gazette of the 12th of August, 1915.

been made to appear to me that the Winton Brass Band
Society is no longer carrying on its operations and has no
assets, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved, in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.

Public Service Act, 1912, and the regulations thereunder, an election will be held on Tuesday, the 3rd day of
July, 1917, at Wellington, for the purpose of electing a member
of the Public Service Board of Appeal as representative of
the officers of the Telegraph Branch of the Post and Telegraph
Department, vice Mr. Alexander Mill, resigned. Nominations,
to be made on forms obtainable from the Returning Officer,
Education Department, Wellington, must reach the Returning

NOTICE is hereby given that the license of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by
resolution of the Hawke's Bay Land Board, the said land
has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of
the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the
regulations made thereunder.
