Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the New Zealand Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

STAFF.
Major Peter Bain Henderson, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the N.Z. Staff Corps, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 19th January, 1914 (vide New Zealand Gazette of 12th February, 1914), and to retain the temporary rank of Captain in the N.Z. Staff Corps until further notice. Dated 30th April, 1917.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Edward Purdon, N.Z. Staff Corps, performed the duties of Chief Musketry Instructor, N.Z. Expeditionary Force Training-camps, from 14th October, 1914, and is confirmed in the appointment with effect from that date, and retains the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 13th April, 1917.

7TH (SOUTHLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major Donald Bruce McKenzie, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 2nd July, 1912 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 64, of 25th July, 1912). Dated 16th May, 1917.
Captain Arthur James Millard, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 11th October, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 126, of 9th November, 1916). Dated 18th May, 1917.

10TH (NELSON) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Major Daniel Willis Talbot, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 1st September, 1914 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 121, of 12th November, 1914). Dated 16th May, 1917.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. Dated 19th April, 1917:—
Russell Bernard MacMahon.
Francis George Painter, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.
Reginald William Sparrow, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.

NEW ZEALAND FIELD ARTILLERY.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) James Gordon Jeffery, B Battery, is confirmed, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.
Mounted Signal Troops.
Lieutenant Thomas Lomax Gibbs to be Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 19th April, 1917.

DIVISIONAL SIGNAL COMPANIES.
Lieutenant Philip Brunskill Cooke is appointed to the N.Z. Expeditionary Force as Lieutenant, with effect from 1st October, 1915.

NEW ZEALAND RAILWAY BATTALIONS.
North Island.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Murdock Macaskill is confirmed.
Quartermaster-Sergeant John French to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 13th April, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND POST AND TELEGRAPH CORPS.
South Island.
The appointment of Captain (on probation) Frederick William Mathews is confirmed.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants:—
James Wallace Logan, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 19th March, 1915.
William John Stafford. Dated 19th March, 1915.

7TH (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) REGIMENT.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Piriwi Rota Tahiwi is confirmed, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.

8TH (SOUTHLAND) REGIMENT.
Lieutenant Arthur Victor Valentine, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 30th August, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 126, of 9th November, 1916). Dated 17th May, 1917.

9TH (HAWKE’S BAY) REGIMENT.
Captain Ernest Sirdefield Harston, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 27th October, 1916 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 128, of 16th November, 1916). Dated 17th May, 1917.

10TH (NORTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant James Wyllie Smellie, from the Unattached List (b), to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 12th April, 1917.

11TH REGIMENT (TARANAKI RIFLES).
