Pursuant to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Lamont Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from 31st October, 1916.

SCHEDULE.

LAMONT SETTLEMENT.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 745 acres 3 roods 33 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks II and VI, Mabel Hundred, being Sections 1s to 6s (both inclusive), Lamont Settlement, and bounded as follows: Towards the north by Lots 5 and 6, L.T. Plan No. 220, 10525'3 links; towards the south-east by a road, 124'9 links and 5127'5 links; again towards the north generally by the crossing of a road, a road, and Sections Nos. 35 and 32, Block II, Mabel Hundred, 100 links, 138'4 links, and 6185'3 links; towards the east by Lot 9, L.T. Plan No. 115, 5746'3 links; towards the south generally by a road, 4401'1 links and 1600'4 links; and towards the south-west generally by roads, the crossing of a road, and part of Section 29, Block II, Mabel Hundred, 9524'9 links, 2391'8 links, and 100 links, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 21/23, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged with pink.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Nukumaru Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block II, Nukumaru Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Ngutuwera, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Kawa Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

KAWA DRAINAGE BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

In pursuance of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Kawa Drainage District taken on the 17th day of April, 1917, on the proposal of the Kawa Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the purpose of constructing, deepening, widening, straightening, and otherwise improving drains and outfalls for the drainage of the Kawa Drainage District, including the purchase of all necessary land, buildings, plant, and materials, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 36, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I therefore declare the proposal to borrow the above-named sum to be carried.

Dated at Te Kawa this 19th day of April, 1917.

WHAKATANE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan of £7,500.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Whakatane taken on the 20th day of April, 1917, on the proposal of the Whakatane County Council to borrow the sum of £7,500 for bridging, metalling, formation, &c., the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 299, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 134; the number of informal votes was 8.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
