MEMORANDA.
George Alexander Pearson, Esq., Assistant Chief Mechanical Engineer, Railway Department, is appointed Honorary Advisory Mechanical Engineer to the Defence Department. Dated 13th April, 1917.
Captain (temp.) Elizabeth Gunn, M.B., Ch.B., Edin., N.Z. Medical Corps, is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 7th February, 1917.
ERRATA.
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 143, of 16th December, 1915, N.Z. Expeditionary Force (Europe) Grants of Temporary Rank, Appointments, and Promotions of Officers, relative to 2nd Lieutenant Frederick Arthur Ruck (Wellington Battalion) having served the prescribed period in that rank, to be Lieutenant, for the words “Dated 3rd April, 1915,” read “Dated 16th June, 1915.”
With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 128, of 16th November, 1916, relative to Major Michael McDonnell, N.Z. Staff Corps, being struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force and absorbed into the Establishment, with the rank of Lieutenant (temp. Captain), delete the words “temporary Captain.”

Resignation of a Unit.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to abolish, in accordance with section 6 (b) of the Defence Act, 1909, the existing designation of the “12th (Nelson) Regiment,” and to approve that such unit be redesignated the “12th (Nelson and Marlborough) Regiment.” Dated 13th April, 1917.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Green Island and the County of Taieri.

Wellington, 1st May, 1917.
Pursuant to the provisions of section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the Borough of Green Island are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by an Order in Council dated the 26th day of March, 1917, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, as amended by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 56, of the 29th day of March, 1917.
And also, in pursuance of the said section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the County of Taieri affected by the said Order in Council dated the 26th day of March, 1917, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF GREEN ISLAND.
All that area in the Otago Land District bounded by a line commencing at the junction of Edward Street and Gordon Street in the extension of the Township of Burnside; thence southerly along the western side of Gordon Street, 276 links; thence easterly across Gordon Street and along the southern boundary of Section 41, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri District, to Duke Street; thence along the southern side of Duke Street to Section 61, Block VI aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the last-mentioned section to its south-western corner; thence easterly along the southern boundary of that section, and north-easterly along its south-eastern boundary and the south-eastern boundary of Section 44, and part of the south-eastern boundary of Section 45, Block VI aforesaid, to the northern-most corner of Section 45, Lower Kaikorai District; thence south - easterly along the south - western boundary of Section 45, Block VI aforesaid, to its southernmost corner, and thence along the south-western boundary of Section 33, Lower Kaikorai District, to the Lower Kaikorai Road; thence southerly along the north-western side of that road, 300 links; thence south-easterly across that road and along the south-western boundary of Section 45, Block VI, Town District, to its southernmost corner, and continuing to a point on the south-eastern side of the main South Road; thence generally south-westerly along the south-eastern side of the main South Road to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 13, Township of Concord, along the eastern boundaries of Allotments 13 and 14, across Mulford Street, along the eastern boundary of Allotment 46 and the south-western boundaries of Allotments 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41, 40, and 39, Township of Concord, to Emerson Street, and along the eastern side of that street to a point in line with the south-western side of Thoreau Street; thence to and along the south-western side of that street to Allotment 63 of Section l, Block XV, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, and along the southern boundary of that allotment to the north-western boundary of the said Block XV; thence along that boundary to Cemetery Road; thence along the northern side of that road to Mill Road; thence along the north-western side of Mill Road to Brighton Road, and the south-eastern side of Brighton Road to the area described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 14th December, 1911, page 3693, as added to the Borough of Green Island; thence along the southern and western boundaries of that area to the Walton Park Branch Railway Reserve, along the southern side of that reserve to and across Brighton Road; thence northeasterly to the northern side of the said reserve, across a road, and along the northern side of the said Walton Park Branch Railway Reserve to Abbot’s Creek, along the eastern side of that creek to Section 60, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, and along the southern boundary of that section to the main South Road; thence along the south-western side of that road to the eastern boundary of Section 97, Lower Kaikorai District, across the said road, and along the eastern boundary of the said Section 97 to its north-eastern corner; thence westerly along the northern boundaries of the last-mentioned section and Section 98 to the south-western corner of Allotment 15, Township of Abbotsford; thence along the south-western boundaries of Allotments 15, 16, 17, and 18, Township of Abbotsford, and the abutments of two roads to the north-western corner of he las-mentioned allotment; thence along the north-western boundaries of Allotments 18, 14, 10, and 5, across a road, and along the north-western boundary of railway reserve, 1223·5 links; thence along a right line to the westernmost corner of Allotment 3 of Section 60, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri District; thence along the north-western boundaries of Allotments 3 and 1 to North Taieri Road, across that road, and along its eastern side to the north-western corner of Allotment 15, Abbotsford Extension, along the north-western boundaries of Allotments 15 and 16, the abutment of Alexander Street, and part of the north-western boundary of Allotment 45 to its intersection by a right line from the northernmost corner of Allotment 1 aforesaid to the westernmost corner of Allotment 45, Abbotshill Extension; thence to the westernmost corner of the said Allotment 45, and, along the northern boundaries of Allotments 45, 44, 32, 31 and the abutments of two roads to Torquay Road; thence along the south-western side of Torquay Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Allotment 1, Township of Plevna; thence easterly across Torquay Road and along the northern boundaries of Allotments 1, 19, 20, 36, 37, 38, and across two streets to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned allotment; thence along the eastern boundaries of Allotments 38, 39, 40, 41, and 43, Township of Plevna, to a point in line with the southern side of Edward Street; thence to and along the southern side of that street to Gordon Road, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF TAIERI.
All that area in the Otago Land District bounded towards the north-west generally by Maniototo County from the north-eastern boundary of Tuapeka County to Waihemo County; towards the north-east by Waihemo and Waikouaiti Counties and the City of Dunedin to the sea; towards the south-east by the sea; and towards the south-west by Bruce and Tuapeka Counties to Maniototo County, the place of commencement: excluding the Boroughs of Green Island and Mosgiel.
