THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the New Zealand Staff Corps and Territorial Force.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Staff Corps, Staff, and Territorial Force.

NEW ZEALAND STAFF CORPS.

Captain Jesse Alfred Wallingford, M.C., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank of Lieutenant (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 4, of 18th January, 1912). Dated 30th April, 1917.

Lieutenant Jesse Alfred Wallingford, M.C., is attached to the General Staff for Musketry Duties, at Headquarters, and is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst so employed. Dated 30th April, 1917.

Lieutenant Michael McDonnell, N.Z. Staff Corps, is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst acting as Group Commander, No. 6 Group. Dated 25th September, 1916.

STAFF.

Captain John Cecil Hill, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is appointed Assistant Provost Marshal to the Forces, under the Department of the Adjutant-General, with headquarters at Wellington. Dated 11th April, 1917.

1ST MOUNTED RIFLES (CANTERBURY YEOMANRY CAVALRY).

Major Percy Hawkins Johnson held the appointment of Acting Chief Mounted Instructor, Featherston Camp, from 5th November, 1916, to 31st March, 1917.

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

Divisional Signal Companies.

The appointment of Sergeant-major Gerald Oliphant as 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), vide notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 6, of 27th January, 1916, is made substantive as from the 20th December, 1915. 2nd Lieutenant Gerald Oliphant to be Lieutenant. Dated 4th April, 1917.

3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY'S OWN).

Captain James Blackwood Neely, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 17th February, 1914 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 128, of 26th November, 1914. Dated 4th May, 1917.

Captain George Harry Woolley, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 28, of 26th March, 1914). Dated 16th May, 1917.

10TH (NORTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.

Lieutenant Arthur George Stanley Gibbs resigns his commission. Dated 13th April, 1917.

14TH (SOUTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.

Major William Domigan, T.D., is appointed Attesting Officer, Group 5, Wellington Military District. Dated 16th March, 1917.

16TH (WAIKATO) REGIMENT.

Lieutenant John William Peake, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from 21st December, 1915 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 20, of 24th February, 1916). Dated 29th September, 1915.

Captain John William Peake is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 19th October, 1916.

NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE (EARL OF LIVERPOOL'S OWN).

Territorial Unit.

Sergeant William Leslie Hooson, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 26th August, 1916.

2nd Lieutenant William Leslie Hooson, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed, with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from 26th August, 1916. Dated 18th April, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain Charles Evans Maguire is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst in charge of the Military Wards, Auckland Hospital. Dated 16th April, 1917.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 61, of 27th July, 1911, relative to Lieutenant-Colonel Harry Archibald De Latour, v.d., resigning his commission, dated 1st June, 1911, is cancelled

Lieutenant-Colonel Harry Archibald De Latour, v.d., is posted to the Retired List, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform, with effect from 1st June, 1911.

John Rowbotham Dixon to be Salvation Army Chaplain, ranking as Chaplain, 4th Class. Dated 8th February, 1917.
