the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and absorbed, with his
original rank and seniority—viz., Major, as from the 16th
August, 1907 (vide New Zealand Gazette No. 80, of 12th
September, 1907). Dated 11th January, 1917.
Lieutenant William David Stoney Johnston, M.B., B.S., to
be Captain. Dated 2nd April, 1917.
John Stevenson, M.B., M.S., F.R.C.S., Edin., is granted the
honorary rank of Captain, and is appointed a Consulting
Ophthalmic Surgeon to the N.Z. Expeditionary Force:
Dated 31st March, 1917.
The undermentioned to be Lieutenants whilst employed
with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. Dated 12th March,

Captain Howard Charles Edwards is taken on the strength
of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, and is posted for duty
in Samoa. Dated 2nd April, 1917.
Lieutenant Martin John Ryan is granted the temporary rank
of Captain. Dated 5th April, 1917.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) John
Coull is confirmed, under the provisions of paragraph 111,
