Amending Regulations under the War Regulations Act, 1914,
relating to the Withholding of the Publication of Inventions
and Designs.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this second
day of April, 1917.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the eighteenth
day of December, nineteen hundred and sixteen,
and published in the Gazette of the twenty-first day of
December, nineteen hundred and sixteen, regulations were
made under the War Regulations Act, 1914, for withholding
the publication of any inventions or designs in cases where
the Registrar of Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks is
satisfied that, on account of the war, it is desirable to with-
hold such publication: And whereas it is desirable that
the said regulations be amended in the manner hereinafter
set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and
in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him
by the War Regulations Act, 1914, and of all other powers
and authorities enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby
amend the regulations hereinbefore referred to in the manner
set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
(1.) NOTWITHSTANDING anything to the contrary in clause 2
of the regulations hereinbefore referred to (relating to ap-
plications for the grant of patents in respect of inventions,
or the registration of designs, in a foreign country or in any
of His Majesty’s Dominions), applications may, by leave of
the Registrar, be made for the grant of any such patent or
the registration of any such design before the expiration of
the period of one month fixed by that regulation.
(2.) Such leave shall not be granted in any case unless
the Registrar is satisfied that the invention or design is one
with respect to which the powers of prohibition conferred by
the said regulation could not be exercised with propriety.
(3.) Clause 3 of the said regulations shall not apply to the
exercise by the Registrar of his power to grant leave under
this regulation.

Maori Soldiers’ Fund Trustees incorporated under the War
Funds Act, 1915.

THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section twelve of the War Funds Act,
1915 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it
is provided that the Governor may, by Order in Council
gazetted, incorporate a society possessing a war fund, or the
trustees of such fund: And whereas application, in writing
addressed to the Minister, has been made by the trustees
of Maori Soldiers’ Fund Council’s War Fund, praying for
the incorporation of the said trustees :
And whereas it is considered desirable to grant such
application :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him by the said Act, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and
declare that the trustees of Maori Soldiers’ Fund Council’s
War Fund are hereby incorporated for the purposes of the
said Act as from the publication hereof in the New Zealand
Gazette, and shall be known as the “Maori Soldiers’ Fund
Trustees.”

Kakepuku Road District, County of West Taupo, constituted.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this second day
of April, 1917.
Present :
THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of sec-
tion twenty-seven of the Reserves and other Lands
Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916, a peti-
tion, signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers
within the meaning of the Rating Act, 1908, of land within
the area described in the Schedule hereto, has been presented
to the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, praying
that the said area be constituted a road district under the
provisions of the said section :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority contained in section twenty-seven of
the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies
Empowering Act, 1916, and acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby constitute and declare the area of land described
in the Schedule hereto to be a road district for the purposes
of the Road Boards Act, 1908, and to be called by the name
of the “Kakepuku Road District”; and also, in further
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained
in the said section twenty-seven, doth hereby declare that the
Board of the said district shall consist of five members.
SCHEDULE.
KAKEPUKU ROAD DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the County of West Taupo bounded by a
line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Puniu River
being the north-western corner of the said County of West
Taupo, thence along the left bank of the said Puniu River
to the Main Trunk Railway line, thence along the said rail-
way-line to the Kawa Railway-station Reserve, thence
north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of that
reserve and its production to the eastern boundary of Oruru-
whero 3 (O) 1 Block, along that boundary to the south-eastern
corner of the said block, thence along the southern boundary
of that block to the north-eastern corner of Oruruwhero 3 (O)
2 (B) Block, along the south-eastern boundary of the last-
mentioned block to and along a road to the westernmost
corner of Oruruwhero 2 (A) Block, and along its south-western
boundary to the railway-line, along the railway-line to the
western boundary of West Taupo County, and thence along
the said western boundary to the Puniu River, the place of
commencement.

Transfer of Hawera District Patriotic and Wounded Soldiers
Fund to the Taranaki Provincial War Relief Association
(Incorporated), under the War Funds Act, 1915.

of April, 1917.

THE HONOURABLE W. H. HERRIES PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section thirteen of the War Funds Act,
1915 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it
is provided that any person, society, or trustees (whether
such society or trustees are incorporated or not) having con-
trol of any war fund may, with the consent of the Governor
in Council, transfer such fund to any other society or trustees
incorporated pursuant to section twelve of the said Act, to
be applied by such last-mentioned society or trustees for the
purposes for which such last-mentioned society or trustees
were incorporated, notwithstanding that such purposes may
not be identical with the purposes for which the fund to be
transferred was established; provided that consent shall not
be given to any application under this section unless the
Governor in Council is satisfied that the fund to be transferred
can be administered by the incorporated society or trustees
for substantially the same purposes as those for which the
fund was established: And whereas an application has been
made by the trustees having control of the Hawera District
