hundred and seventeen; and in the meantime the representatives of the districts or combined districts in which they were grouped, or out of which they have been created shall be deemed to be the representatives of the aforesaid combined districts.

(d.) The first election of representatives for Cook County shall take place on the date of the next ordinary general election of members of the County Council, and the present representatives shall continue in office until that date.

(e.) On Wednesday, the twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, the representation of the combined district of Newmarket, Mount Eden, and Onehunga Boroughs and Ellerslie Town District shall be reduced to one member, and the present representatives of that district shall continue to hold office until that date.

(f.) The principal local authority in each of the combined districts in the Schedule hereto shall be that indicated by the letter (p).

Authorizing the Laying-off of Streets in the City of Dunedin of a Width less than 66 ft. but not less than 40 ft.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twelfth day of March, 1917.
Present :
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and seventy-eight of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that where the configuration of any borough is such as that within any particular area or areas thereof it is difficult or inexpedient to construct streets of a width of sixty-six feet, as required by the said Act, the Governor may, by Order in Council defining the limits of such particular area or areas, authorize the Council to permit within such area or areas the construction of streets and private streets of a width less than sixty-six feet but not less than forty feet : And whereas the configuration of part of the City of Dunedin is such that within the area described in the Schedule hereto it is inexpedient to construct a street of sixty-six feet in width:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the Dunedin City Council to permit the laying-off of streets of a width less than sixty-six feet, but not less than forty feet, within the area described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the City of Dunedin, being part of Sections 9 and 10, Block I, Anderson's Bay District. As the said area is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 41513, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon bordered red.

Consenting to Land being taken for the Purposes of a Road in Block VII, Titirangi Survey District, Waitamata County.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twelfth day of March, 1917.
Present :
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, in section fifteen thereof, inter alia, enacted that, except for the purpose of a railway or defence purposes, or for the purposes of any other work to be made under the authority of a special Act, nothing in this Act contained shall authorize the taking of any land occupied by any building, yard, garden, orchard, or vineyard, or in bona fide occupation as an ornamental park or pleasure-ground, without the previous consent of the Governor in Council or the consent in writing of the owner first obtained;
And whereas part of the land described in the Schedule hereto is occupied by an orchard, and the Waitemata County Council has applied for the consent of the Governor in Council to the taking of the said land for the purposes of a road, and it is expedient that such consent should be given:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the land described in the Schedule hereto being taken for the purposes above named.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken : 2 perches.
Portion of Allotment 53, Parish of Waikomiti, Block VII, Titirangi Survey District.
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 41547; deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured red.

WHEREAS by section twenty-six, subsection one, of the Appropriation Act, 1915, it is provided that, notwithstanding any Act to the contrary, it shall not be lawful or competent for any local authority or for any Harbour Board, during the present war with Germany, to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf) whether from the State Advances Office or from any
