fallow-deer bucks may be issued by the said Chief Postmaster, upon a like recommendation, on payment of a license fee of £2; such licenses to be issued in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations.

  1. No licensee shall take or kill more than four red-deer stags or two fallow-deer bucks, and no red-deer stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than ten points, and no fallow-deer buck shall be killed carrying antlers with less than fourteen points (on a palmate of less than 4 in.). Ball cartridge only to be used.

  2. The licensee must give notice to the said Chief Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

  3. No doe, hind, or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  4. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or any portion thereof.

  5. Regulations as to deer “tags,” per New Zealand Gazette No. 40, Vol. I, of 20th May, 1909, page 1408, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Otago Acclimatization Society immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20.

All that area known as the Greenvale, Wart Hill, Upper Pomahaka, and Whitecomb Districts.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, Fiordland National Park, Southland.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the conditions under which red-deer stags may be taken or killed in the Fiordland National Park, Southland.

REGULATIONS.

NOTWITHSTANDING anything contained in the Warrant made under the Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated the 19th day of October, 1909, and in the Warrant dated the 21st day of February, 1917, red deer (stags only) may be taken or killed within the Fiordland National Park, Southland, from the 15th day of March, 1917, to the 14th day of April, 1917, both days inclusive, by persons to whom licenses have been or may hereafter be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Invercargill, pursuant to the Warrant of 21st February, 1917, making regulations for deer-shooting in Southland, subject, however, to the conditions fixed in that Warrant.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Westland, and Canterbury Land Districts.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Westland, and Canterbury Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Sections 5 and 6, Block I, Patetonga Village. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 4, Block I, Patetonga Village; towards the north-east by Section 3 of the said Block I; towards the south-east by Tainui Street; and towards the south-west by a public road to the point of commencement. For an addition to a site for a public school.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 14 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, being Section 77, Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 658·7 links, and by Meeanee Suburban Section 75, 2279 links; towards the south-east by Powdrell Road, 293 links; and towards the south-west generally by Tutaekuri River.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, being Section 78, Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 795·5 links; and towards the south-west by Meeanee Suburban Section 75, 578·3 and 300 links.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 28 perches, more or less, being Section 79, Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 198·5 links; towards the south-east by Powdrell Road, 182·6 links; and towards the south-west by Meeanee Suburban Section 75, 299·6 links.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 0 roods 19 perches, more or less, being Section 80, Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 975·4 links; towards the south generally by the Tutaekuri River; towards the north-west by Powdrell Road, 265·6 and 158·1 links; and towards the north-east, north-west, and south-west by Meeanee Suburban Section 74, 528·8, 100, and 731·3 links.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Section 81, Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by a public road, 4222·8 links; and towards the south-east by the Tutaekuri River.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 9 acres 2 roods 19 perches, more or less, being Section 82, Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by a public road, 2950·6 links; towards the north-east by Great North Road, 180 links; and towards the south-east by Tutaekuri River.

Be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 53438/73, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and the eon bordered red.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 3 roods 30 perches, more or less, being Section 83, Blocks VII and VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by a public road, 2325·5 links; towards the north-east by the said road, 290 links; towards the south-east by Tutaekuri River; and towards the south-west by Crown land, 72 links.
