Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Borough of Marton.

Wellington, 13th February, 1917.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the Borough of Marton, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, praying that the said area may be excluded from the said borough and included in the County of Rangitikei. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE BOROUGH OF MARTON.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the west by the present boundary of the Borough of Marton, being the eastern side of the road forming the western boundary of Original Sections 26 and 19, from Henderson’s Road to the north-western corner of the said Section 19; thence towards the north by the northern boundary of the western subdivision of that section to a public road; thence towards the east by that road to and across Bonny Glen Road, and by that road to the north-eastern corner of the north-western subdivision of Original Section 26, by the eastern boundary of that subdivision and of the south-western subdivision of the said Section 26 to Henderson’s Road; and towards the south by the northern side of that road to the place of commencement.

Fixing Dates on which certain Returns under the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, are to be furnished.

Wellington, 10th February, 1916.

PURSUANT to section 22 of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1916, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned, in the manner prescribed by the said section, on or before the 31st day of May, 1917.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the Mount Hutt Road District, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Mount Hutt Road District, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the road district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 1 p.m. on Wednesday, 6 p.m. on Thursday, 6 p.m. on Friday, and 10 p.m. on Saturday:

And whereas the Mount Hutt Road Board has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Mount Hutt Road District:

Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 19th day of February, 1917, all shops in the Mount Hutt Road District shall be closed at 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 10 p.m. on Saturdays. Pursuant to subsection (4) of the said section, nothing in this notice shall permit any such shop to remain open after the hour of 1 p.m. on the day observed as the weekly half-holiday.

The notice gazetted on the 24th day of April, 1908, is hereby cancelled.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Blocks VI, IX, and X, Porangahau Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Blocks VI, IX, and X, Porangahau Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Porangahau, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 41453, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.
