Constitution of a Special Rating District in terms of Section 50 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913.

PURSUANT to section 50 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913, and the regulations thereunder, I, William Ferguson Massey, the Minister of Lands, do hereby, on the recommendation of the Land Board of the Wellington Land District, declare the lands referred to in the Schedule hereto to be a special district for the purposes of the said section; and such district shall be known as the Mangatiti-Waipapa Special Road District.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’ Shops in the City of Wellington under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the (a) hairdressers’ and tobacconists’ shops within the City of Wellington, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city should be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: (a) The two working-days (other than the day observed as the statutory closing-day) immediately preceding Christmas Day, and the two working-days (other than the day observed as the statutory closing-day) immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.; (b) the working-days, other than the days observed as the statutory closing-day, in the period of the 17th day of December to the 31st day of December (both days inclusive) when the closing-hour shall, subject to paragraph (a) hereof, be 9 p.m.:

And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the (a) hairdressers’ and (b) tobacconists’ shops within the City of Wellington:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 20th day of December, 1917, all hairdressers’ shops and all tobacconists’ shops within the City of Wellington shall be closed accordingly.

The notice gazetted on the 21st day of September, 1911, is hereby varied accordingly.

Revoking Notice under War Regulations declaring a certain Firm to be an Enemy.

IN pursuance of clause 20 of the War Regulations of the 3rd day of April, 1916, I, Alexander Lawrence Herdman, His Majesty’s Attorney-General for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the notice under the said regulations dated the 9th day of May, 1916, and published in the Gazette of the same date, declaring Maintz and Co. to be an enemy.

THE MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers in the water area and extended water area of the Mount Roskill Road District was taken on the 8th day of December, 1917, on the proposal of the Mount Roskill Road Board to borrow the sum of (£2,000) two thousand pounds, for the purposes of installing a permanent water-pumping plant, removing storage-tank to new site, and other necessary requirements.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 151.

The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 6.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
