HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force.

APPOINTMENTS.

Captain Courtney Llewellyn Nedwill, M.B., B.S., Camb., M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Lond., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board, and granted the pay of Lieut.-Colonel at Expeditionary Force rates whilst so acting. Dated 30th October, 1917.

Captain Thomas John Linton Buxton is appointed Ship's Quartermaster on H.M.N.Z. transports. Dated 7th November, 1917.

PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.

4TH (WAIKATO) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain Gavin Melville Abbott is temporarily attached to the N.Z. Army Pay Department whilst employed as Camp Paymaster, Featherston Camp. Dated 3rd August, 1917.

Samuel Pearce Eddy to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 12th November, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND RAILWAY BATTALIONS.

Captain Charles Philip Ryan resigns his commission. Dated 14th November, 1917.

3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).

2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Murdoch McKenzie Milliken to be Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 12th November, 1917.

Lieutenant (temp.) James Halifax Stewart is transferred to the 3rd (Auckland) Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), Coast Defence Detachment. Dated 12th November, 1917.

Captain Walter Wright, Reserve of Officers, is temporarily attached for duty. Dated 1st October, 1917.

Lieutenant Hugh McColl Holden, Reserve of Officers, ceases to be attached for duty. Dated 25th July, 1916.

COAST DEFENCE DETACHMENT.

Lieutenant (temp.) James Halifax Stewart, from the 3rd (Auckland) Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own) to be Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 12th November, 1917.

6TH (HAURAKI) REGIMENT.

The undermentioned are temporarily attached for duty. Dated 8th September, 1914:—

Captain Frederick Charles Ring Horne, Reserve of Officers.

Lieutenant Frederick William Hetherington, Reserve of Officers.

Lieutenant William Douglas, Littlejohn, Reserve of Officers.

16TH (WAIKATO) REGIMENT.

Captain Felix Hector Levien, Reserve of Officers, was temporarily attached for duty from 9th April, 1915, to 21st August, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE.

Earl of Liverpool’s Own (Territorial).

Lieutenant Alexander Hamilton, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 12th December, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from the 29th April, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 139, of the 14th December, 1916).

NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.

Captain Hugh Lawrence Widdowson, M.B., B.S., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 2nd November, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from the 16th January, 1915 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 19, of the 11th February, 1915).

Courtney Llewellyn Nedwill, M.B., B.S., Camb., M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Lond., to be Captain (temp.). Dated 30th October, 1917.

Leonard Hugh Booth, M.B., B.S., to be Lieutenant. Dated 8th November, 1917.

Lieutenant Leonard Hugh Booth, M.B., B.S., is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst employed with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force, Samoa. Dated 8th November, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.

The notification published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 115, of the 12th July, 1917, relating to the Reverend James Aitken, is cancelled.

The appointment of the Reverend James Aitken, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is extended for a further period of two years, as from the 16th November, 1917.

The appointment of the Reverend Charles Alexander Gray, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is extended for a further period of two years, as from the 16th November, 1917.

The Reverend Edward Eliot Chambers, Chaplain to the Forces, 1st Class, retires under the provisions of paragraphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 16th November, 1917.

The Reverend William Stanley Lucas, Chaplain to the Forces, 3rd Class, retires under the provisions of paragraphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913, with permission to retain his rank and wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 16th November, 1917.
