(i.) Payments in respect of claims for benefits as approved in each case by the Superintendent in terms of the said Act may be made at any postal money-order office, or at the district offices of the Superintendent at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, out of the cash in hand.
(j.) Paying officers must take reasonable steps to satisfy themselves as to the identity of the person claiming payment, such person being required to produce the Superintendent’s notice of payment, and to furnish such other proof of identity as may be deemed necessary.
(k.) The paying officer must certify on the voucher that the identification is satisfactory, and see that the receipt is properly signed in accordance with law. When payment is completed, the voucher must be date-stamped at the right foot and initialled by the paying officer.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Whangarei Borough Council.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General:
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Whangarei Borough Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be three years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
SCHEDULE.
CORONATION SCENIC RESERVE, WHANGAREI BOROUGH.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 117 acres 1 rood 39 perches, more or less, being part of Horahora No. 2 Block, part of Te Wharowharo No. 1 Block, and Kirikiri No. 5 Block, situated in Block XII, Purua Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Section 192, Melanesian Mission Land, and Section 167 from the easternmost corner of Section 77 to the road forming the north-western boundary of Section 43, Borough of Whangarei; thence towards the south-east by the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections 43, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 94, 93, and 92, the abutment of that road and the last-mentioned section to Te Wharowharo No. 2 Block; thence by that block to its westernmost corner; thence by a right line bearing 353° 9′ 57″, distance 4340·3 links, to the southern boundary of Section 77; and thence towards the north by that section to its easternmost corner, the place of commencement: as the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 30653, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this fourth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Amending the Examination Regulations under the Surveyors’ Institute and Board of Examiners Act, 1908.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by section 17 of the Surveyors’ Institute and Board of Examiners Act, 1908, the Surveyors’ Board doth hereby amend the regulations dated the 30th day of July, 1913, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th day of August, 1913, by deleting from regulation 6 (1) the words “(with the addition of passes in the arithmetic and algebra and geometry and trigonometry papers of the Public Service Senior Examination),” and substituting therefor the words “(with the addition to either of them of a pass in the mathematical subjects of Class C of the teachers’ certificate exami-
nation of the Education Department)”; and doth hereby declare that such amendment shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1919.
