RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Greymouth Jockey Club at a meeting held on the 5th day of October, 1917, at Greymouth, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. M. Hannan, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. M. Hannan, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. W. R. Kettle seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :-

GREYMOUTH JOCKEY CLUB.
REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908).

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Greymouth Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the reserve situate at Omoto, Greymouth, set apart for racing purposes, and known as Omoto Racecourse, as the same is described in the Greymouth Racecourse Reserve Act, 1878, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the part of the said Greymouth Racecourse Reserve while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :-

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference.

(c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

The foregoing regulations of the Greymouth Jockey Club were made and passed by the members of the Greymouth Jockey Club on the 5th day of October, 1917, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908; and in the matter of the KEEBLES REWARD SLUICING AND GOLD-MINING COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given, under section 223 of the Companies Act, 1908, that the Keebles Reward Sluicing and Gold-mining Company (Limited) has gone into voluntary liquidation under and in pursuance of an extraordinary resolution of the company passed at an extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders of the company held at the company’s registered office, 145 Featherston Street, Wellington, on the 5th day of November, 1917, whereat the following resolution, of which due notice had been given, was passed :-

“ That it is proved to the satisfaction of the company that it cannot by reason of its liabilities continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that the company be wound up voluntarily accordingly; and that a Liquidator be appointed by the members for the purpose of such winding-up.”

And, further, that Mr. WILFRED GOODMAN TALBOT, of Wellington, was appointed Liquidator.

WHANGAROA COUNTY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND IN BLOCK VII, WHANGAROA, AND BLOCK II, KAE0 SURVEY DISTRICTS, FOR ROAD PURPOSES.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required for the purposes of a public work—to wit, a public road; and that it is proposed to take the same for such purposes, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, and its amendments.

And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so proposed to be taken, showing the names of the owners and the occupiers thereof as far as they can be ascertained, is deposited in the County Office at Whangaroa, and is there open for inspection at all reasonable hours during a period of forty days from this date; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said lands should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Clerk of the said county at the County Office, Whangaroa.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership hitherto existing between ARTHUR WELLS NEWTON and ARCHIE DONALD PATERSON, carrying on business at Christchurch as Surveyors and Civil Engineers, under the style of “ Paterson and Newton,” has been dissolved as from the 30th September, 1917, by mutual consent.

The said ARTHUR WELLS NEWTON will receive all accounts and discharge all liabilities of the Partnership business.
