With reference to the notification published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 160, of the 18th October, 1917, relating to Honorary Lieutenant Frederick J. Mackintosh, Unattached List (b), after the words “Unattached List (b)” add “On proceeding with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force.”
ERRATA.
With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 143, of the 16th December, 1915, under the heading “New Zealand Army Service Corps,” for the words “The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains. Dated 14th December, 1914,” read “The undermentioned Lieutenants to be Captains. Dated 14th September, 1915.”
With reference to the notification published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 132, of the 23rd August, 1917, relating to Captain William H. Fraser, 9th (Hawke’s Bay) Regiment, for the words “17th September, 1917,” read “7th September, 1917.”
With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 160, of the 18th October, 1917, under the heading “New Zealand Field Artillery,” delete the names of Lieutenant Edwin James Phillips and 2nd Lieutenant George Falkland Gardiner.

Arrangements for First Election, &c., Mangaorongo Road District.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
STEPHEN I. GOODALL, Esq., Farmer, of Maihihi,
as Returning Officer and person to prepare ratepayers roll for the purposes of the first election of seven members of the Board of the Mangaorongo Road District as constituted under section 27 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916.
Also to appoint Saturday, the 8th day of December, 1917, as the day, and the Maihihi Settlers’ Hall, Maihihi, to be the place, for holding the said first election.
Also to appoint Saturday, the 15th day of December at noon as the time, and the said Maihihi Settlers’ Hall as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Board so elected.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the Borough of Newmarket, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Newmarket, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. for the statutory half-holiday in each week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 6 p.m.; Friday, 9.30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 p.m. on every Saturday in the year except on the Saturday after Good Friday and on the Saturday in the Christmas and New Year weeks, when the closing-hour shall be 9.30 p.m., and except on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m. (Note.—The statutory half-holiday is on Saturday, on which day chemists’ shops may reopen from 7 p.m. till 9 p.m. only for the supply of medicines and surgical appliances):
And whereas the Newmarket Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Newmarket:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 28th day of November, 1917, all chemists’ shops in the Borough of Newmarket shall be closed as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(a) Should the occupier of any chemist’s shop in the Borough of Newmarket comply with the requirements of the Shops and Offices Act relating to the weekly half-holiday on Good Friday or Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, then the closing-hour for any such shop on the day usually observed as the statutory closing-day, in the week in which such holiday falls, shall be 9.30 p.m.; (b) the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.
The notice gazetted on the 1st day of February, 1906, is hereby varied accordingly, and the notice gazetted on the 25th day of November, 1915, is hereby cancelled.
