Appointments, Promotions, and Transfers of Officers of the Territorial Force.

Wellington, 20th November, 1917.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force.
APPOINTMENTS.
Captain Thomas Leslie Crooke, M.D., L.R.C.P., Edin., N.Z. Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board, and granted the pay of Lieut.-Colonel at Expeditionary Force rates whilst so acting. Dated 29th October, 1917.
Lieutenant (Honorary Captain) Roy Garfield Crawford, N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes his appointment as Expert Dental Adviser to a Special District Medical Board, and the honorary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 1st November, 1917.
Lieutenant (Honorary Captain) Leslie Fosbery Nancarrow, N.Z. Dental Corps, relinquishes his appointment as Dental Examining Officer to a District Medical Board, and the honorary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 1st November, 1917.
Honorary Lieutenant (temp.) Albert George Barlow, N.Z. Permanent Staff, relinquishes his appointment as Ship’s Quartermaster on H.M.N.Z. transports, and is appointed Quartermaster, Tauherenikau Camp, and retains the honorary rank of Lieutenant whilst so employed. Dated 20th September, 1917.
Frederick William Platts, Esq., of Rarotonga, is authorized to attest under the Military Service Act, 1916. Dated 1st August, 1917.
PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS.
12TH (OTAGO) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain Gordon Ross Mitchell to be Major, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 17th October, 1917.
Lieutenant Allan Cross Finlayson to be Captain, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 17th October, 1917.
NEW ZEALAND GARRISON ARTILLERY.
No. 2 Company.
Sergeant Allan John Fairmaid to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 27th October, 1917.
CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.
No. 2 Field Company.
Captain Frederick Joseph Williams to be Major. Dated 16th October, 1917.
NEW ZEALAND POST AND TELEGRAPH CORPS.
North Island.
Captain Charles Edward Reid ceases to be attached for duty with the War Expenses Branch with the rank of Lieutenant, and returns to duty with the corps with his original rank and seniority. Dated 25th October, 1917.
George William Kerr to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 2nd October, 1917.
South Island.
William Joseph Tidmas Watson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 3rd October, 1917.
3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
Lieutenant Daniel Joseph Augustus Tole, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 26th November, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 20th August, 1915 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 143, of the 16th December, 1915).
12TH (NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH) REGIMENT.
Reserve of Officers.
Lieutenant John Faulkner Balck, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 1st November, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 10th July, 1912 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 68, of the 15th August, 1912.)
16TH (WAIKATO) REGIMENT.
Major Athol Graham Bissell Price, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 1st September, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority—viz., Major, as from 21st December, 1915 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 6, of the 27th January, 1916).
Captain John Hector Luxford to be Major, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 26th October, 1917.
Lieutenant Oliver Sidney Ellis, from the Unattached List (b), to be Lieutenant. Dated 26th October, 1917.
NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.
Captain Charles William Peach is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 25th October, 1917.
Major Frederick Goulburn Gibson, M.D., M.R.C.S., Eng., L.R.C.P., Lond., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 10th November, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 3rd February, 1906 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 33, of the 29th March, 1906).
Captain Robert Bernard Pearson Monson, M.B., B.S., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 12th October, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 23rd June, 1914 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 69, of the 30th July, 1914).
Captain Charles Ernest Howden, M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Lond., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 5th November, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 23rd June, 1914 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 69, of the 30th July, 1914).
Captain Allan Leslie Christie, M.B., N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 31st October, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Captain, as from 13th September, 1916).
Charles Ogilvie Lillie, M.B., B.S., to be Captain. Dated 31st May, 1917.
Leslie Hatton Whetter, M.B., B.S., to be Captain. Dated 28th July, 1917.
Vincent Denis Griffen, L.R.C.S. Edin., L.R.C.P. Edin., to be temporary Captain. Dated 15th October, 1917.
Thomas Leslie Crooke, M.D., L.R.C.P., Edin., to be temporary Captain. Dated 29th October, 1917.

Captain Richard James King, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength with effect from 14th October, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 7th November, 1915 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 25, of the 2nd March, 1916).
NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend Patrick Francis Cullen to be Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class. Dated 25th October, 1917.
The Reverend James Tymons to be Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class (temp.) Dated 15th October, 1917.
NEW ZEALAND ARMY NURSING SERVICE.
Staff Nurse Margaret Herbert is struck off the strength of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force with effect from 14th October, 1917, and is posted to the Retired List. Dated 14th October, 1917.

Lieutenant Oliver Sidney Ellis is transferred to the 16th (Waikato) Regiment. Dated 26th October, 1917.
