AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

THE Waitemata River, its tributaries and streams flowing therein, bounding parts of the Eden and Waitemata Counties.
The Tamaki River and its tributaries, bounding parts of the Eden and Manukau Counties.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-third day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Amended Regulations under the Coal-mines Act, 1908.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Coal-mines Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby make the following amendment to the regulations made under the said Act on the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the first day of July then instant; and doth hereby order that the amendment to the regulations hereby made shall be read as part of the said principal regulations, and shall come into force on the day of the gazetting hereof.


REGULATIONS.

REGULATIONS 22 (1) and 29 (1) are to be amended as follows: Between the words “granted” and “a fixed sum” insert the words “in addition to any payments under the foregoing clause.”

Additional Regulations made by the Public Service Commissioner under the Authority of the Public Service Act, 1912.


WHEREAS by section thirty-four of the Public Service Act, 1912, the Commissioner under that Act, with the approval of the Governor-General in Council, is authorized to make regulations prescribing the maximum number of officers in any class, and the determination of the order and conditions of promotions: And whereas it is expedient to make such regulations with respect to Examining Officers of the Customs Department:

Now, therefore, the Commissioner, under the Public Service Act, 1912, in pursuance and exercise of the said authority, and with the approval of the Governor-General in Council, doth hereby make the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth order that such regulation shall take effect from and after the date of publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.


SCHEDULE.

THE maximum number of Examining Officers in the Customs Department shall be fifty-five (55), and, subject as hereinafter provided, the maximum number in each class shall be as follows:—

In Class V … … … Eight.
In Class VI … … … Twenty-five.
In Class VII … … … Twenty-two.

Provided that where an Examining Officer has for at least one year been receiving the maximum salary for Class VII, and the Permanent Head reports that he is fully qualified by efficiency and experience as an Examining Officer for promotion to Class VI, the Commissioner may promote such officer to Class VI, notwithstanding that the number of Examining Officers in Class VI may thereby be increased beyond twenty-five, but such promotion shall not be deemed to cause a vacancy in Class VII:

Provided also that where an Examining Officer, being eligible for promotion beyond Class VI, has for at least two years been receiving the maximum salary for Class VI, and the Permanent Head reports that he is fully qualified by efficiency and experience as an Examining Officer for promotion to Class V, the Commissioner may promote such officer to Class V, notwithstanding that the number of Examining Officers in Class V may thereby be increased beyond eight, but such promotion shall not be deemed to cause a vacancy in Class VI.
