In the matter of the Rating Act, 1908, and of the Acts amending the same ; and in the matter of the land known as Ngatikahumate Block 3A, situated at Opua, within the County of Egmont.
THE Egmont County Council hereby declares that rates duly levied and payable in respect of Ngatikahumate Block 3A, Block IX, Opunake Survey district, containing 50 acres and 4 perches (more or less), to the amount of £20 13s. 2d., are in arrear and unpaid, and that the period of nine months has elapsed since the date when such rates first became payable ; and the above-named local authority is entitled to a lien on the said land in pursuance of section 14 of the Rating Amendment Act, 1913, for the amount of such rates, and hereby applies that the same be registered against the title to the said land.
As witness the common seal of the said local authority.

HAUTAPU DRAINAGE BOARD.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—C. 2 SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and the Land Drainage Act, 1908, and the amendments to the same respectively, the Hautapu Drainage Board hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of four hundred pounds, authorized to be raised by the Hautapu Drainage Board, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of land drainage in the above special area, the said Hautapu Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-third of one penny in the pound on the capital value on the rateable lands of all that portion of the Hautapu Drainage District in the Waikato County commencing at the north-western corner of Section 67, Block III, Hamilton Survey District ; thence following the road boundary of the said section and Section 66 to the south-western corner of Section 65 ; then in an easterly direction following the road-line to the south-eastern corner of Section 71 ; thence following the boundary of Section 71 in an easterly direction to the road at the eastern corner of part Section 72 ; thence following the road-line in a north-westerly direction to the north-western corner of Section 67, the commencing-point. And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Board held on the 6th October, 1917.

HAURAKI DRAINAGE BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 10 of the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at an election held at Turua on the 28th day of September, 1917, for the purpose of electing two trustees for the Hauraki Drainage Board, in place of Messrs. J. A. Bennett and W. H. Russell, resigned, the number of votes received by each candidate for the two vacancies of trustees on the above Board was as follows :—

And I hereby declare the first two above named to be duly elected to such office.

PATEA COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Patea County Council hereby resolves as follows :—
“That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of three hundred and seventy pounds (£370), authorized to be raised by the Patea County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of metalling a portion of Clifford Road, the said Patea County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one halfpenny in the pound (½d. in the £) upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Clifford Road Special-rating Area, comprising Section 607, parts of Sections 605, 608, 609, 571, and 616, Block XIII, Carlyle Survey District ; the said section and parts of sections being more particularly described as Section 607, containing 59 acres ; the south-eastern portion of Section 605, containing 40 acres ; the south-eastern portion of Section 608, containing 50 acres ; the south-eastern portion of Section 609, containing 50 acres ; the north-western portion of Section 616, containing 42 acres 3 roods 12 perches ; and the northern portion of Section 571, containing 191 acres (the southern boundary of the said portion of Section 571 commences at the intersection of the boundary-line between Sections 610 and 611 and the boundary of Section 571, and thence by a right line in an easterly direction to the boundary between Sections 571 and 579). And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 42½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”
We hereby certify that the above is a true copy of and extract from the minutes of the proceedings of the Patea County Council as passed at a meeting of the said Council at Patea on the 8th day of October, 1917.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and their amendments.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the above-named Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely, the widening of the main Karori Road ; and for the purpose of such public works the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and is there open for inspection (without fee) by all persons
