in the pound upon the rateable value (being the unimproved
value) of all rateable property in the Waimarino-Retaruke
Special-rating Area, comprising Sections 1 and 2, Block II,
Manganui S.D. ; Section 27 of Blocks II, III, VI, and VII,
Manganui S.D. ; Sections 1, 3, and 4 and Lots 8 and 9 of
Section 2, Block III, Manganui S.D. ; Waimarino 4B Sec-
tion 1, Block IV, Manganui S.D. ; Sections 4 and 5, Block
XIV, Kaitieke S.D. ; Sections 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7, Block XV,
Kaitieke S.D. ; Section 5, Block XVI, Kaitieke S.D. ; Sec-
tions 1 and 2, Block XVI, Kaitieke S.D. ; part Waimarino 4E
(scenic reserve), part Waimarino 4E Section 2, Block IV,
Manganui S.D. ; and unsectioned part of Block XVI, Kai-
tieke S.D. ; being the rateable properties within the following
boundaries :—
Commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 27,
Blocks II, III, VI, and VII, Manganui S.D. ; and running
in a westerly direction along the southern boundary of the
said Section 27 ; thence in a northerly direction along the
western boundaries of said Section 27 and Sections 1 and 2,
Block II, Manganui S.D. ; thence in an easterly direction
along the northern boundary of Section 2, Block II, Manga-
nui S.D. ; thence in a northerly direction along the western
boundary of Sections 4 and 5, Block XIV, Kaitieke S.D. ;
thence in an easterly direction along the northern boundaries
of Section 4, Block XIV, Kaitieke S.D., Section 2 and part
of Section 5, Block XV, Kaitieke S.D., and Section 2, Block
XVI ; and thence in a straight line running due east through
unsectioned Block XVI, Kaitieke S.D., to the Main Trunk
Railway ; thence in a southerly direction along the said
railway and the eastern boundaries of the said unsectioned
Block XVI and part of unsectioned Block IV, Manganui
S.D. ; thence in a straight line running due west to the
south-eastern corner of Section 6, Block XV, Kaitieke S.D. ;
thence along the southern boundary of Section 6, Block XV,
Kaitieke S.D. ; and thence generally in a southerly direction
along the eastern boundaries of Lot 9, Section 2 and Sec-
tion 4, Block III, Manganui S.D., and Section 27, Blocks II,
III, VI, and VII, Manganui S.D., to the point of commence-
ment.
And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring
rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly
on the first day of October in each and every year during
the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or
until such loan is fully paid off.
I, Leonard Stanley Ford, Chairman of the Kaitieke County
Council, do hereby certify that the above is a true and correct
copy of a resolution passed by the Kaitieke County Council
on the 1st day of September, 1917.

BOROUGH OF LYTTLETON.
£5,000 ELECTRICITY LOAN.—RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in
that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and
the Lake Coleridge Water-power Act, 1915, the Lyttelton
Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other
charges on a loan of five thousand pounds, authorized to be
raised by the Lyttelton Borough Council, under the above-
mentioned Acts, for purchasing the electrical reticulation
installed in the Borough of Lyttelton by the Public Works
Department, extending the said electrical reticulation within
the Borough of Lyttelton, and making advances to owners
or occupiers of premises in terms of section 5 of the Muni-
cipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1915, the said Lyttelton
Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of
twopence in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable
property of the Borough of Lyttelton, comprising the whole
of the said Borough of Lyttelton ; and that such special rate
shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such
loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each
and every year during the currency of such loan, being a
period of five years in respect of one-half of the said loan,
and ten years in respect of the other half of the said loan, or
until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of a
resolution adopted at a duly convened meeting of the Lyttel-
ton Borough Council held on the 1st day of October, 1917.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore
subsisting between the undersigned, FRANCIS WILLIAM
HIRTZEL and WILLIAM BAXTER JONES, under the style or
firm of “Hirtzel and Jones,” was on the 15th day of May,
1917, dissolved by mutual consent.
All debts due to and owing by the late firm will be re-
ceived by and paid by the said WILLIAM BAXTER JONES, by
whom the business will in future be carried on in his own
name.

In the matter of the GUARDIAN, TRUST, AND EXECUTORS
COMPANY OF NEW ZEALAND (LIMITED).
I, PERCY HENRY UPTON, Manager of the Guardian,
Trust, and Executors Company of New Zealand (Li-
ited), do solemnly and sincerely declare—
- That the liability of the members is limited.
- That the capital of the company is £100,000, divided
into 20,000 shares of £5 each. - That the number of shares issued is 20,000.
- That calls to the amount of three pounds (£3) per share
on 2,500 shares and three shillings (3s.) per share on 17,500
shares have been made, under which the sum of £10,125 has
been received. - That the amount of all moneys received on account of
estates on the 1st day of July last is £134,000 19s. 9d. - That the amount of all moneys paid on account of
estates on that day is £136,316 7s. 4d. - That the amount of the balances due by estates under
administration on that day is £2,315 7s. 7d. - That the liabilities of the company as on the 1st day
of July last were £39 11s. 1d. - That the contingent liabilities of the company on de-
posits on the 1st day of July last were nil. - That the assets of the company on that day were
£12,505. - That the first annual license was issued on the 10th
day of March, 1911.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believ-
ing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of
an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled
the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.

proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned
Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the esta-
blishment of a gravel-pit for road metal and other purposes
for which the said Council may require stone and gravel ;
and for the purposes of such public work the lands described
in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken. And notice
is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required
