Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force:—

APPOINTMENTS.

Major John Hastings Chisholm, Queen Alexandra’s 2nd (Wellington West Coast) Mounted Rifles, is appointed Area Officer, Oamaru, Otago Military District, with the rank and pay of Captain whilst so employed, with effect from 13th August, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant William Thomas Longhurst, Unattached List (b), General List, performed the duties of Attesting Officer from the 31st January, 1917, to the 15th March, 1917.

Lieutenant Alexander Mitchell Wighton, Reserve of Officers, General List, performed the duties of Attesting Officer from the 13th March, 1917, to the 31st July, 1917.

Honorary Major George Toussaint Girdler, Retired List, New Zealand Medical Corps, is appointed a member of a Special District Medical Board, and granted the pay of Lieut.-Colonel at Expeditionary Force rates whilst so acting. Dated 3rd September, 1917.

PROMOTIONS, RESIGNATIONS, AND TRANSFERS.

6TH (MANAWATU) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Major (temp. Lieut.-Colonel) Albert Moeller Samuel, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 7th October, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from the 16th October, 1912 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 82, of the 7th November, 1912).

8TH (SOUTH CANTERBURY) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Lieutenant Henry James Cracroft Harper, from the Reserve of Officers (General List), to be Lieutenant. Dated 21st January, 1916.

9TH (WELLINGTON EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.

Captain Montgomery Owen Grainger, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 6th October, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Captain, as from the 31st December, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 4, of the 11th January, 1917).

10TH (NELSON) MOUNTED RIFLES.

The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) George Leslie Comer is confirmed, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. Dated 14th August, 1917:—
George Edmund Parsons.
George Leslie Comer, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913.

Charles Alfred Forrest to be Bandmaster, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant. Dated 14th August, 1917.

Captain Sydney Vincent Trask, Reserve of Officers, is transferred to the N.Z. Army Pay Department. Dated 1st April, 1917.

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

New Zealand Railway Battalions (South Island).

Lieutenant Arthur Valentine Williams is transferred to the 13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment. Dated 4th September, 1917.
