Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Hungahunga Drainage District, Counties of Piako and Matamata.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Hungahunga Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed inclusion which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

AREA TO BE INCLUDED IN HUNGAHUNGA DRAINAGE DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the right bank of the Waitoa River, being the northernmost corner of Section 32, Block XVI, Waitoa Survey District; thence along the road forming the north-eastern boundary of that section and of Sections 33 and 34, and part of the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 34, and the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Section 36, Block XVI aforesaid, and of Sections 7, 8, and 9, Rangiatea Estate, and along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 9 to its southernmost corner; thence along the south-western boundaries of Sections 9, 8, and 7 aforesaid and that line produced to and across a public road forming the north-western boundary of Section 36, Block XVI aforesaid; thence along the watershed crossing Sections 34, 33, and 32 to the Waitoa River, and along the right bank of that river to the place of commencement.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’ Shops in the Borough of Eltham, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the (a) hairdressers’ and (b) tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Eltham, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, 6.30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 8 p.m.; Thursdays, 1 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 p.m.:

And whereas the Eltham Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the (a) hairdressers’ and (b) tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Eltham:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 17th day of September, 1917, all hairdressers’ shops and all tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Eltham shall be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 6.30 p.m., on Wednesdays at 8 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10 p.m.

Pursuant to subsection (4) of the said section, nothing in this notice shall permit any such shop to remain open after the hour of 1 p.m. on the day observed as the weekly half-holiday.

The notice gazetted on the 18th day of November, 1909, is hereby varied accordingly.

BOROUGH OF NEW BRIGHTON.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

I HEREBY give public notice that a poll of ratepayers of the South New Brighton Special-rating Area was duly taken on the 30th day of August, 1917, upon the proposal of the New Brighton Borough Council to raise a special loan of ten thousand pounds (£10,000), under the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of formation and kerbing and channelling of roads, purchase of land for road purposes, planting for protection against sandrift, and drainage.

The voting upon such loan proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 108; against the proposal, 13; total, 121.

I therefore declare that such proposal was carried.

Revoking Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence.

WHEREAS by notice published in the Gazette of the 15th day of July, 1915, the 26th day of August, 1915, and the 25th day of November, 1915, the Postmaster-General did order that no postal packet or telegram addressed to or intended for any of the persons, firms, or companies named in the Schedules thereto should be forwarded or delivered by the Post Office or transmitted by telegraph:
