Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Te Kuiti, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF TE KUITI.
In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and Amendment Act, 1913, the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1913, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY give public notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Te Kuiti was duly taken on Thursday, the 22nd day of February, 1917, upon the proposal of the Te Kuiti Borough Council to raise a special loan of six thousand six hundred and eighty pounds (£6,680), under the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of—
(1.) Payment of land acquired under the Public Works Act, 1908, for river-deviation works : Sloman’s two-acre section, Pukenui 2d Section 31 ; and Cowern’s three-acre quarry reserve situated Waiteti Road.
(2.) River-deviation filling works.
(3.) Metalling of new roads on river-deviation land.
(4.) Extras due on contract for river-deviation works and bridge-construction.
(5.) Water-cart.
(6.) Metalling the following streets and other works : Rangiatoto Road, Te Kuiti 2b Roads, Carroll Street, George Street, Hikaka Street, Ngatai Street, Elizabeth Street, South and John Streets, Tonga Street, Tammadge Road, Hinerangi Street, Alexandra Street, Taupiri Street, Hetet Road, public convenience Rora Street, redecking King Street bridge.
(7.) Legal expenses.
(8.) Engineering and contingencies.
(9.) Payment of first year’s interest on loan.
The voting upon such loan proposal was as follows : For the proposal, 144 ; against the proposal, 113 ; informal, 7 ; total, 264.
And I hereby declare such loan proposal to be duly carried.

Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Marton and the County of Rangitikei.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the Borough of Marton are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by an Order in Council dated the 23rd day of July, 1917, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, as amended by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, and published in Gazette No. 120, of the 26th day of July, 1917.
And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the County of Rangitikei affected by the said Order in Council dated the 26th day of July, 1917, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF MARTON.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the point where the northern side of Bond Street intersects the Tutaenui Stream ; thence along the right bank of that stream to Henderson’s Line, along the northern side of the said Henderson’s Line to the south-western subdivision of Original Section 26, along the eastern boundary of that subdivision and of the north-western subdivision of the said Section 26 to Bonny Glen Road, along the southern side of that road to a point opposite the south-eastern corner of the westernmost subdivision of Original Section 19, across the said road, and along the western side of the road forming the eastern boundary of the said westernmost subdivision to the southern boundary of Section LXXX, along the southern boundary of that section and of Section XXXVIII to the Tutaenui Stream, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF RANGITIKEI.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Wangaehu River ; thence along the boundary between the Wanganui and Rangitikei Counties as described in the First Schedule to the Counties Act, 1876, to Trig. Station 32 (Papaka) ; thence along right lines to Trig. Stations 16 (Kauaekeke), 17 (Auahitotara), 24 (Te Rotete), 28 (Manukaiapu), 27, Mangamaire Survey District, and a right line to the middle of the Rangitikei River where it is intersected by a line running from the said Trig. Station 27 to Trig. Station 26 (Tawheketewhango) ; thence along the middle of the Rangitikei River to its intersection by a right line from Trig. Station 30 (Aorangi) to Trig. Station 32 (Papaka) ; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 30 and a right line in the direction of the junction of the Makaroro River with the north branch of Waipawa River to the summit of the Ruahine Range, along the summit of that range to a point due east of the source of the Kawhatau River ; thence to and along the middle of that river to its confluence with the Rangitikei River, along the middle of that river to the sea, and along the seashore to the mouth of the Wangaehu River, the place of commencement.

THE following amendment of by-laws made by the Rotorua Fire Board is published in accordance with the Fire Brigades Act, 1908.

BY-LAWS AMENDED.—ROTORUA FIRE BOARD.
CLAUSE 3 of Part 2 of the by-laws is hereby amended as follows :—
To read after the words “hearing and sight”—They must not be less than eighteen years of age and not more than fifty years, unless they have been previously and recently engaged as active and efficient firemen or otherwise thoroughly competent. Boys attaining the age of sixteen years may be enrolled as auxiliaries and classed as firemen on attaining the age of eighteen years.
The foregoing amendment was made by the Rotorua Fire Board on the 29th day of June, 1917, and sealed on the 22nd day of August, 1917.
