Authorizing Special Investment of Eighteen Thousand Pounds (£18,000) of the Public Trust Office Funds.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this thirteenth day of August, 1917.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board (hereinafter called “the said Board”), incorporated under the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, has applied to the Public Trustee for a loan of eighteen thousand pounds (£18,000) :

And whereas the said Board, as security for the said loan, has agreed to enter into a deed of covenant with the said Public Trustee that a contribution will be levied annually under the provisions of section forty-one of the said Act for the full amount of interest and principal payable by the said Board to the said the Public Trustee for the year (such security being referred to herein as “the said security”) : And whereas the said security is not one authorized by the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 : And whereas by section ninety-one of the Public Revenues Act, 1910, it is enacted that it shall be lawful to invest any part of the balance of the Public Trust Office Account in any securities which shall be declared by the Governor by Order in Council to be securities in which such balance may be invested :

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General in and for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that it shall be lawful for the Public Trustee to invest out of the balance of the Public Trust Office Account the said sum of eighteen thousand pounds (£18,000).

Consenting to the Raising of Loans by certain Local Authorities.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of August, 1917.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section twenty-six, subsection one, of the Appropriation Act, 1915, it is provided that, notwithstanding any Act to the contrary, it shall not be lawful or competent for any local authority or for any Harbour Board, during the present war with Germany, to borrow or contract to borrow any money (otherwise than by way of bank overdraft within the limit of its powers, if any, in that behalf), whether from the State Advances Office or from any other source whatever, and whether in pursuance of a special Act or under any other authority whatever, without the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council :

And whereas application has been made for the consent of the Governor-General in Council to enable the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto to borrow the loans set out in column B therein :

And whereas it is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor-General in Council should issue :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the raising of the loans hereinafter mentioned by the several local authorities set out in the Schedule hereto, provided that the rate of interest at which the loans or any of them are to be raised shall in no case produce to the lender a return exceeding five and one-quarter pounds per centum per annum; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Appropriation Act, 1915, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the loans hereby authorized.

Declaring Portion of Dew Road, in the Pahiatua County, to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of August, 1917.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become a county road.


SCHEDULE

ALL that portion of Dew Road, in the Wellington Land District, Pahiatua County, commencing at a point near the boundary between Sections 3 and 4, Block IV, Makuri Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly and then north-westerly direction, adjoining or passing through Sections 3, 2, and 1, Block IV, and Sections 1, 60, 60A, and part 59, Block I, Makuri Survey District, and terminating at a point near the north-eastern corner of the said Section 59; being a distance of 2 miles 45 chains, more or less. As the said portion of road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 42775, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Declaring Blairgowrie Block Roads, in the Dannevirke County, to be County Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of August, 1917.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, become county roads.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that road known as Blairgowrie Road, in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, Dannevirke County, commencing at its junction with the main Dannevirke-Napier Road at a point about 20 chains north of the southern boundary of Block VI, Norsewood Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction passing through part Blocks VI and X, Norsewood Survey District, to Boytes Road; thence north-easterly and south-easterly to the crossing of the Mangatawainui River at the boundary of Section 66, Block IX, Takapau Survey District; being a distance of 2 miles 43·50 chains, more or less.

Also all that road known as Boytes Road, in the said land district and county, commencing at its junction with Blairgowrie Road, and proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction for a distance of 15·83 chains, more or less, passing through Block X, Norsewood Survey District.

As the said roads are more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 42776, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.
