NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend John Robert Burgin, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is struck off the
strength, and absorbed with his original rank and seniority
—viz., Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, as from the 11th
November, 1912 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 86, of the 28th
November, 1912); to date from 21st July, 1917.

The undermentioned Chaplains to the Forces, 3rd Class,
are posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of para-
graphs 126 and 127, General Regulations, 1913, with per-
mission to retain their rank and wear the prescribed uniform.

The notification in the N.Z. Gazette No. 71, of the 19th April,
1917, relating to 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Herbert
Edward Sturge, is cancelled.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Herbert
Edward Sturge is confirmed.

The appointments of the undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants
(on probation) are confirmed, under the provisions of para-
graph 111, General Regulations, 1913 :—

GENERAL LIST.
The notification in the N.Z. Gazette No. 22, dated 8th Feb-
ruary, 1917, relating to Lieutenant Claude Charles Brinsley,
is cancelled, and the following substituted : “ Lieutenant
Claude Charles Brinsley, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is
struck off the strength, and absorbed with the rank and
seniority as 2nd Lieutenant, as from 21st October, 1915.
Dated 19th February, 1917.”
2nd Lieutenant Claude Charles Brinsley is granted the tem-
porary rank of Lieutenant whilst employed in a district
as Officer in Charge Sick and Wounded Soldiers ; to date
from the 19th February, 1917.
James Alexander Laing to be Lieutenant. Dated 22nd July,
1916.

Lieutenant James Alexander Laing, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed with his
original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from the
22nd July, 1916; to date from the 18th July, 1917.

2nd Lieutenant Martin Hubert Braithwaite Burrell, N.Z.
Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and ab-
sorbed with his original rank aud seniority—viz., 2nd
Lieutenant, as from the lst April, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette
No. 35, of the 30th March, 1916); to date from the 21st
July, 1917.

The notification in the N.Z. Gazette No. 8, of the 18th January,
1917, relating to 2nd Lieutenant Henry Masterton Clark,
is cancelled.

2nd Lieutenant Henry Masterton Clark, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the
General List with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd
Lieutenant, as from the 23rd May, 1915; to date from the
4th January, 1917.

Lieutenant Laurence Willoughby Bishop, N.Z. Expeditionary
Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed with his
original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from
the lst November, 1915 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 128, of the
llth November, 1915); to date from the 23rd July, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.
Lieutenant James Edward Cockroft is struck off the strength
at his own request. Dated 31st May, 1915.

ERRATA.
With reference to the notification in the N.Z. Gazette No. 71,
of the 19th April, 1917, delete the names of 2nd Lieutenants
George Marmaduke Vavasour and Allan Richie Douglas.

ADDENDA.
With reference to the notification in the N.Z. Gazette No. 47,
of the 15th March, 1917, under the heading “ New Zealand
Rifle Brigade,” add the names of “ 2nd Lieutenant George
Marmaduke Vavasour, 10th (Nelson) Mounted Rifles, and
2nd Lieutenant Allan Richie Douglas, 5th Mounted Rifles
(Otago Hussars),” with seniority next below Lieutenant
Henry Newall Waymouth, with effect from 12th March,
1917. Also in the N.Z. Gazette No. 71, of the 19th April,
1917, add “ New Zealand Engineers.” 2nd Lieutenant
Geoffrey William Eaton-Turner, Unattached List (b),
General List, with effect from 5th April, 1917.
