Appointing a Member of the Thames Harbour Board.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS it is provided by the eleventh section of the Harbours Amendment Act, 1910, that if any constituent district or combined district fails at any election to elect the required number of representatives the Governor may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected; and the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act: And whereas one member of the Thames Harbour Board should have been elected by the electors of the County of Piako: And whereas the County of Piako failed to elect a member:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint

HERBERT OSMOND COOPER

to be a member of the Thames Harbour Board, as a representative of the electors of the County of Piako, to fill the vacancy caused by the before-mentioned failure to elect.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Appointing a Member of the Whakatane Harbour Board.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS it is provided by the eleventh section of the Harbours Amendment Act, 1910, that if any constituent district or combined district fails at any election to elect the required number of representatives the Governor may, by Warrant under his hand, appoint such qualified persons as he thinks fit to be the representatives of that district in lieu of those who ought to have been elected; and the persons so appointed shall hold office in all respects as if they had been duly elected in conformity with the said Act: And whereas it is provided by section three of the Whakatane Harbour Amendment Act, 1916, that one member of the Whakatane Harbour Board shall be elected by the electors of the Waimana Riding of the harbour district: And whereas the electors of the said Waimana Riding failed to elect a member:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, doth hereby appoint

ALLEN JOHN MITCHELL

to be a member of the Whakatane Harbour Board, as the representative of the electors of the Waimana Riding of the Whakatane Harbour District, to fill the vacancy caused by the before-mentioned failure to elect.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands described in the Schedule hereunder written for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.


SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 33 perches, more or less, being Allotment 416, Parish of Waikomiti. Bounded towards the south-east by Allotment 248A, Waikomiti Parish, 1115·7 links; towards the north-west generally by a public road, portion of Allotment 57A, Waari Hamlet, and again by a public road, 337·5, 670·3, and 158·5 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on plan marked L. and S. 2/34B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan No. 18288.) For an addition to a public cemetery.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Lot 1, Section 3, Block II, Patetere North Survey District (Mangapouri Settlement). Bounded towards the east generally by a fishing reserve along the Oraka Stream; towards the south-east by Lot 37, a subdivision of part of Mangakaretu Block, 565·5 links; towards the north-west by the township of Tirau, 4269·8 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on plan marked L. and S. 19344/52, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan No. 14068.) For gravel purposes.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 15 acres 1 rood 14 perches, more or less, being Section 5, Block I, Ahipara Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west generally by a public road, 275·1, 1016·7, 547·1, and 687·6 links; towards the south-east and south-west by the Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve Extension, 2347·8 and 1161·4 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/618, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. For a public recreation-ground.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 perches, more or less, being Section 34, Block XII, Kaeo Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 27, Block XII aforesaid, 25 links; towards the north-east by a public road, 103 links; towards the south-west by part of Section 15, Block XII aforesaid, 101·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 2/313B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan No. 19201.) For an addition to a public cemetery.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 7 acres 0 roods 4 perches, more or less, being Section 13, Block XII, Pirongia Survey District. Bounded towards the east and north-east generally by education reserve Section 1 in the aforesaid Block XII, 1674·9, 94·9, 458·2, 295, 207·7, 393·3, 368·7, 235·7, 225·9, 138·7, 714·6, 474·4, 537·1, and 304·3 links; towards the south-east by a public road, 141·5 links; towards the south-west by the aforesaid Section 1, 212·1, 538·3, 453, 717, 197·1, 249·2, 254·5, 402·7, 110·4, 234·1, 180·3, 291, 421·6, 805·6, and 273·3 links; towards the west by the Takotokoraha part 3c No. 2 Block, 104 links; again towards the north-east and west by the aforesaid Section 1, 311·3, 616·9, and 1558·3 links; and towards the north-west by a public road, 122 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/433, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan No. 18992.) For an endowment for primary education.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 14 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, being Meeanee Suburban Section 77, in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 658·7 links, and by Meeanee Suburban Section 75, 2279 links; towards the south-east by Powdrell Road, 293 links; and towards the south-west generally by Tutaekuri River.

Also all that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, being Meeanee Suburban Section 78, in Block VIII, Heretaunga Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, 795·5 links; and towards the south-west by Meeanee Suburban Section 75, 578·3 and 300 links.
