Prohibiting all Private Alienation of certain Native Land.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of June, 1917.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienations of the Native lands specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienations in favour of the Crown.


SCHEDULE.
WAIKOUAITI, Section 14, Block XII (Native reserve). Approximate area, 19 acres 3 roods 7 perches; Waikouaiti Survey District.

Cook Islands.—Taking Land in the Island of Niue for Public Purposes.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of June, 1917.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

I, ARTHUR WILLIAM DE BRITO SAVILE, Earl of Liverpool, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, and in pursuance of the authority conferred upon me by section three hundred and fifty-seven of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, do hereby take the land described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Island of Niue, for a public purpose—to wit, as a site for a prison, police office, and gaolers’ and police officers’ quarters.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land at Utuko, Alofi, in the Island of Niue, the boundaries of which are as follows: Starting from a peg at the southern corner of the Alofi Village Main Road and Peta Road, along the said Alofi Village Main Road in a south-westerly direction for a distance of 95 ft. to a peg; thence in a south-easterly direction at an angle of 90° for a distance of 231 ft. 7 in. to a peg; thence in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 37 ft. 11 in. to a peg, such peg being the south-east corner of a piece of Crown land already acquired for public purposes; thence along the southern boundary of the aforesaid piece of Crown land for a distance of 89 ft. 6 in. to a peg; thence along the western boundary of the aforesaid Crown land for a distance of 64 ft. to a peg abutting on the aforesaid Peta Road, such peg also forming the north-western corner of the aforesaid Crown land; thence from the last-mentioned peg along the southern side of the said Peta Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 137 ft. 10 in. to the point of commencement: all the measurements being a little more or less, the said piece of land being more particularly described in a plan signed by the Resident Commissioner of Niue, dated the 27th day of March, 1917, and deposited in the office of the Secretary for the Cook Islands at Wellington.
