Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the areas described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Counties of Eketahuna, Mauriceville, and Masterton respectively, shall, as on and from the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, be deemed to be added to and form part of the Horowhenua County; and, with the like power and authority, do proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Counties of Eketahuna, Mauriceville, Masterton, and Horowhenua respectively shall, as from the aforesaid date, be those set forth under their respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM EKETAHUNA COUNTY.
ALL that area bounded towards the north-west by Horowhenua County, towards the south-east by a right line running between Arawaru and Mount Dundas Trig. Stations, and towards the south-west by Mauriceville County.
AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM MAURICEVILLE COUNTY.
All that area bounded towards the north-east by Eketahuna County, towards the south-east by a right line running between Arawaru and Mount Dundas Trig. Stations, towards the south-west by Masterton County, and towards the north-west by Horowhenua County.
AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM MASTER TON COUNTY.
All that area bounded towards the north-east by Mauriceville County, towards the south-east by a right line running between Arawaru and Mount Dundas Trig. Stations and that line produced to the county boundary, and towards the west by Horowhenua County.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
EKETAHUNA COUNTY.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north generally by Pahiatua County as described in the Schedule to the Counties Act Amendment Act, 1888, from Arawaru Trig. Station on the summit of Tararua Range to the westernmost corner of Akitio County as described in New Zealand Gazette of the 1st December, 1905, page 2763; thence towards the east generally by the said Akitio County to Section 2, Block XVI, Puketoi Survey District, by that section, Section 1, the abutment of a road, Sections 7 and 882 to Section 824, Block III, Mangapakeha Survey District, and by that section to the Taueru River; thence to and by a line along the middle of that river to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 225, Block II, Mangapakeha Survey District; thence towards the south generally to and by that section to the westernmost corner of Section 149, by the north-western boundaries of Sections 149 and 148, Block II aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of the latter section; thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 26, Block I, by that section, and Sections 25, 24, 23, and 22 to Section 17, by that section and Sections 96, 95, 94, 93, 92, and 91 to Barton’s Road, by that road and Sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 29, and 26, Block XV, Mangaone Survey District, to the westernmost corner of Section 30 (E.R.); and thence by the boundary between Eketahuna and Mauriceville Counties as described in the Schedule to the Eketahuna County Act, 1898, to a line running between Arawaru and Mount Dundas Trigs.; and thence towards the north-west by that line to Arawaru Trig. Station on the summit of Tararua Range, the place of commencement: excepting the Borough of Eketahuna.
MAURICEVILLE COUNTY.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the Eketahuna County hereinbefore described from a point where a line running from Arawaru Trig. Station to Mount Dundas Trig. Station crosses the south-western boundary of Eketahuna County to the southern corner of Section 16, Block IV, Kapuaranga Survey District; thence towards the south-east generally by Sections 22, 21, 20, 19, 140, 141, 211, across Mangaire Road, and by Sections 111 and 112, Block VII, Kopuaranga Survey District, to and across Cleland’s Road, and by Lot 3 of Section 118, Block VII aforesaid, to the north-eastern boundary of Section 210; thence towards the south generally by the boundary between Mauriceville and Masterton Counties as described in the Schedule to the Mauriceville County Act, 1899, to a point on a line running between Trig. Stations Arawaru and Mount Dundas; and thence towards the north-west by that line to the Eketahuna County, the place of commencement.
MASTER TON COUNTY.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north generally by Mauriceville County hereinbefore described from its south-western corner, being a point on the line between Arawaru and Mount Dundas Trig. Stations to the southernmost corner of Section 16, Block IV, Kopuaranga Survey District; thence by the Eketahuna County hereinbefore described to the northern corner of Section 157, Block II, Mangapakeha Survey District; thence towards the east generally by the boundary between Masterton and Castlepoint Counties as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th December, 1901, page 2410, to the sea at the mouth of the Whareama River; thence by the sea to the northern boundary of the Wairarapa South County, and by that county to a point on the production of a line from Arawaru Trig. Station to Mount Dundas Trig. Station; and thence towards the north-west by the said production, and by that line to the southern boundary of Mauriceville County, the place of commencement: excepting the Borough of Masterton.
HOROWHENUA COUNTY.
All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north generally by a line along the middle of the Manawatu River from the sea to its confluence with the Oroua River, and by the Kairanga County as described in New Zealand Gazette of the 16th March, 1916, page 780, to Arawaru Trig. Station; thence by Eketahuna, Mauriceville, and Masterton Counties hereinbefore described to the summit of the Tararua Range; thence by that range to Mount Hector; thence towards the south generally by a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 10, Block III, Akatarawa Survey District, by that section, Sections 8 and 18 to the Ngatiawa River, and by a line along the middle of that river to the bridge on the Ngatiawa Road near Section 35, Block X, Kaitawa Survey District, and along the middle of the Ngatiawa Road and the Whakanae-Reikiorangi Road to the northern boundary of Subdivision 23 of Ngarara West C Block, and by that boundary to the Main Trunk Railway line; thence by the railway-line to the middle of the Wai-kanae River, and by a line along the middle of that river to the sea; and thence towards the west generally by the sea to the mouth of the Manawatu River, the place of commencement: excepting the Borough of Levin and the Otaki Town District.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and
