Volunteers belonging to such trades or occupations as may from time
to time be specified by the Minister of Defence shall not be accepted for
actual home service.
Records.
- The records of the Home Service Branch will be held by the
Director of Recruiting, who, when a soldier is called up for home service,
will pass one copy to the Commander of the “section” or Camp Com-
mandant concerned.
Mobilization.
- Soldiers of the Home Service Branch will mobilize at their Group
Headquarters or other specified centre when summoned by proclamation
or posted orders.
Provisional Organization and Establishments.
- Soldiers of the Home Service Branch employed on actual home
service will be organized in “sections” according to their military
arm or the nature of their employment.
“Sections” will be of irregular strength, and their establishment
shall be as determined by the Commandant from time to time to meet
the requirements of the situation in regard to the particular duties dis-
charged. Establishments will be published in General Orders.
“Sections” will be commanded by an officer detailed from the unit
or branch of the service to which the “section” is attached, under the
Officer Commanding the district or camp in which they are serving; in
the case of “sections” attached to the R.N.Z.A., under the O.C. Regi-
ment, R.N.Z.A.; and in the case of “sections” connected with branches
at Headquarters, N.Z. Military Forces, under the director of the branch
in which they are serving. Promotion in accordance with establishment
may be made by the Officer Commanding the district, the Camp Com-
mandant, or the director of the branch at Headquarters under whom the
“section” is serving.
War Organization and Establishment.
- The war organization and establishment will be improvised to meet
any situation which may arise.
Pay.
- The rate of pay and allowances in the Home Service Branch will
be as laid down in Special General Order No. 174/1917, of the 2nd
April, 1917.
Dress.
- Dress and rank badges will be as laid down for the Foreign
Service Branch in New Zealand, excepting puggarees, which will be of
khaki with a centre fold of black.
The following distinguishing patches will be worn on the left-hand
side of the puggarees:—

| 10. Pay, Records, Recruiting, &c. | Diamond (divided horizontally) | Royal blue over white. |
Non-commissioned officers and men of the Home Service Branch will
wear the titles and badges of the corps or department to which they are
posted.
Those appointed to offices for which there is no unit, such as General
and District Headquarters, Recruiting, Base Records, War Expenses,
and similar branches, will wear the titles and badges of the N.Z.A.S.C.
