Ohinemuri County.—Piako Survey District.

Section 28, Block XII: Area, 101 acres; capital value,
£410; instalment on deferred payment (without interest),
£10 5s.; half-yearly rent on lease, £8 4s.

Altitude, 20 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. About 20 acres
flat, balance undulating, covered with light to heavy manuka
and rewarewa. Soil of good second-class quality, on clay
subsoil; poorly watered by small swampy gullies. Fronts
Morrisville-Waitakaruru Road, twenty-nine miles from
Morrisville and fourteen miles from Waitakaruru. There
is also access from Ohinewai Railway-station, twenty-four
miles distant, and the Ngarua Road is under construction to
the Paiko River, five miles and a half distant.

Lands in Canterbury Land District for Sale or Lease to
Discharged Soldiers.


District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 28th August, 1916.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under
the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regula-
tions thereunder; and applications will be received at this
office, and at the local Lands Office, Timaru, up to 4 o’clock
p.m. on Monday, 2nd October, 1916.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of
renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and
a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, on Wednesday, 4th October, 1916, at 11 o’clock
a.m.

The ballot will be held on Thursday, 5th October, at 10
o’clock a.m.

formed road two miles, and unformed road thirty chains.

Section 3.—Good flat agricultural land; black soil, on clay
subsoil; a small area along the lagoon is swampy. Access
from Washdyke Railway-station by good formed road two
miles, and unformed road fifty-five chains.

Section 4.—Good flat agricultural land; black soil, on clay
subsoil. Access from Washdyke Railway-station by good
formed road two miles, and unformed road thirty chains.

Section 5.—Good flat agricultural land; black soil, on clay
subsoil; a small area along the lagoon is swampy. Access
from Washdyke Railway-station by good formed road two
miles, and unformed road fifty-five chains.

Section 6.—Good flat agricultural land; black soil, on clay
subsoil; watered by a good spring. Access from Washdyke
Railway-station by good formed road two miles, and unformed

The existing water-race can be diverted to give water to
every section except No. 8, and water can be readily obtained
anywhere by sinking.

The new road giving access to Sections 1 to 7 will shortly
be formed and metalled.

There is a water rate of 2d. per acre over all the sections.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements that go with the land are as follows:
Section 1, thirty-three chains of fencing, valued at £10 6s. 3d. ;
Section 2, seventy chains of fencing, valued at £21 17s. 6d. ;
Section 3, 133 chains of fencing, valued at £47 3s. 9d. ; Sec-
tion 4, ninety chains of fencing, valued at £28 2s. 6d. ; Section 5, 111 chains of fencing, valued at £41 17s. 6d. ; Section 6,
ninety-two chains of fencing, valued at £28 15s. ; Section 7,
120 chains of fencing, valued at £45 ; Section 8, seventeen
chains of fencing, valued at £10 12s. 6d. ; Section 9, thirteen
chains of fencing, valued at £8 2s. 6d.

Small Grazing-runs in Otago Land District open for Selection
by Discharged Soldiers.


District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 28th August, 1916.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small
grazing-runs are open for selection by discharged
soldiers under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the
Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments ;
and applications will be received at the District Lands and
Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday,
the 7th November, 1916.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wed-
esday, the 8th day of November, 1916, at 10 o’clock a.m.,
to answer any questions the Board may ask.

The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Dunedin, at the conclusion of the examination of
applicants.


SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

VINCENT COUNTY.—TARRAS, CLUDEN, WAKEFIELD, AND
LAUDER SURVEY DISTRICTS.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT
LAND.

Run 2380: Area, 4,320 acres; half-yearly rental, £55.

Weighted with £348 19s. 6d., valuation for improvements.

Situated near the Lindis River, about eighteen miles and a
half from the Town of Cromwell by a fairly good road. Crom-
well is about fourteen miles from Clyde Railway-station,
which is the present terminus of the Otago Central Railway.
The Lindis Crossing Post-office is about four miles and a
quarter from the run, and the Tarras Post-office and school
are about the same distance away. The run comprises good
mountain slopes, which are fairly well clad with tussock and
native grasses. There is a sufficient area of cultivable land
to grow winter feed. Part of the run has a northerly aspect
but the greater portion has a southerly aspect. The soil is a
light loam on a schist-rock and gravel formation; fairly well
watered by Wainui Creek. Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 5,000 ft.
above sea-level. The general quality of the run is good.
The improvements consist of fencing.

Run 238P: Area, 5,970 acres; half-yearly rental, £105.

Weighted with £744 8s. 6d., valuation for improvements.

Situated about eighteen miles from the Town of Cromwell,
about four miles from Lindis Crossing Post-office, and about
four miles and a half from Tarras Post-office and school.
Access is by a fairly good road. The run comprises good
mountain slopes, which are fairly well clad with tussock
and native grasses. There is a sufficient area of cultivable
land to grow winter feed. The aspect is partly north-easterly
and partly south-westerly. The soil is a light loam, on a
schist-rock and gravel formation; fairly well watered by
Wainui Creek and by Dry Creek. Altitude, 1,000 ft. to
5,000 ft. above sea-level. The general quality of the run is
