Sale of Flax by Public Tender.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Auckland, 28th August, 1916.
NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of the Land Act, 1908, and the flax regulations thereunder, and the Hauraki Plains Act, 1908, that written tenders are invited and will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 12 o’clock noon on Thursday, 21st September, 1916, for the purchase of the present crop of flax growing on the undermentioned Crown land.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—OHINEMURI COUNTY.
Crown lands, part Blocks V, VI, IX, and X, Waihou Survey District; upset price, £685; time for removal of flax, six months (to 31st March, 1917).
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE.

Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality, and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relating to their tenders.

The position of the flax lot is only approximately shown on lithograph, and should any dispute arise as to boundaries the decision of the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be final.

No tender will be considered wherein a less price is offered than the upset price as stated herein.

The successful tenderer shall use every precaution to prevent the flax from being destroyed by fire during the currency of his license, and no compensation for the destruction of any flax from any cause whatsoever on the land occupied by the licensee shall be payable by the Crown.

The cutting and removal of the flax will be under the supervision of the Chief Drainage Engineer, or other officer duly appointed by him, and the manner and method of such cutting and removal of flax shall be as directed by him.

If deemed necessary for the purposes of floating the flax to the mill-site, conditional arrangements may be made with the Chief Drainage Engineer, Thames, to use certain existing drains.

Tenders must be accompanied by a deposit of 5 per cent. on amount of tender in cash, marked cheque, or post-office order; the balance to be paid, if tender accepted, in terms as stated hereunder.

The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
Terms.—One-third of amount of tender to be paid in cash within seven days after acceptance of tender, together with 21s. license fee, one-third in three months, and one-third in five months thereafter.
All instalment payments shall bear interest at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum as from the date of acceptance of tender, and with the interest added shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
Tenders to be addressed “Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland,” and envelopes to be marked “Tenders for Flax.”

Rural Lands in Otago Land District for Sale or Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 29th August, 1916.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or selection, in terms of the Land Act, 1908, and its amendments, either for cash, for occupation with right of purchase, or for renewable lease, at the option of the applicant; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 7th November, 1916.
The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the 8th November, 1916, at 2.30 o’clock p.m.
Preference will be given to soldiers, either discharged or on active service, and to landless applicants who have children dependent on them or who have within the preceding two years applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully.
The application of any single man of military age may be refused by the Land Board unless he can produce evidence of rejection from service by the military authorities.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Lake County.—Lower Wanaka Survey District.
SECTION 51, Block XIV: Area, 3 acres 3 roods 3 perches. Capital value, £8. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, 4s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, 3s. 2d.
An open section on the shore of Lake Wanaka, about a mile and a quarter from Pembroke Post-office. A good building-site, with an excellent aspect.
Taieri County.—Sutton Survey District.
Section 67, Block IV: Area, 10 acres 2 roods 21 perches. Capital value, £160. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £4. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 4s.
Weighted with £172 10s., valuation for improvements consisting of cottage, wash-house, stable, garden, fencing, and ditching. The amount of the valuation for improvements may be paid in cash, or in seven years by fourteen half-yearly payments of £14 18s. 2d.
The section is situated in the Strath-Taieri Plain, about a mile from Sutton Railway-siding, and four miles from Middlemarch Township and Railway-station, on the Otago Central line. The section comprises level land of very good quality, the soil being a black loam on a clay formation; well watered by a creek running through the section. Altitude, from 750 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.

NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with section 326 of the Land Act, 1908, that Section 5, Block IX, Hunua Survey District, containing 12 acres 1 rood 20 perches, will be disposed of under the provisions of the said Act on or after Thursday, the 19th day of October, 1916.
