Awhea Road; thence south generally by the said Awhea Road and the western side of the part of that road which forms the eastern boundary of Section 27, Block I, Waipawa Survey District, produced to the middle of the Ruakokopatuna Stream; thence east along the middle of the said Ruakokopatuna Stream to its junction with the Huangarua River; thence generally south along the middle of the Makara Stream to the easternmost corner of Section 164, Block I, Waipawa Survey District; thence to the westernmost corner of the said Section 164; thence along the north-western boundaries of the said Section 164 and Sections 165 and 167 to a point near the south-western corner of Section 167, and opposite the boundary between the properties of Messrs. Simon Campbell and Edward C. Holmes in the said Section 167, as shown on Land Transfer Plan A 3031; thence to and along the said boundary in Section 167 to the Makara Stream; thence in a southerly direction along the middle of the said Makara Stream to the northernmost corner of Section 2, Block V, Waipawa Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction along the boundary of the said Section 2 to the Pukenui Road, and along the centre of the said Pukenui Road to the Pukenui No. 3 Trig. Station; thence following the eastern boundary-line of Haurangi Survey District to the north-easternmost corner of Section 6, Block XII, Haurangi Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of the said Section 6 to the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 7, Block XII, Haurangi Survey District, to the eastern boundary of Section 3, Block XVI, Haurangi Survey District; thence along the eastern boundary of the said Section 3 to its south-easternmost corner; thence generally north along the southern and western boundaries of the said Section 3 and Section 3, Blocks XV and XI, Haurangi Survey District, to the Te Munga Trig.; thence generally north along the western boundaries of Section 8, Block XII, Haurangi Survey District, and Section 8, Block VIII, Haurangi Survey District, to the abutment of a road; thence generally west along the southern boundaries of Sections 7 and 6, Block VIII, Haurangi Survey District, and the southern boundary-line of Block III, Haurangi Survey District, to the south-eastern boundary-line of Section 92, Block III, Haurangi Survey District; thence towards the north generally by the said Sections 92, 93, and Section 90, Block III, Haurangi Survey District, to the Oruapouanui Stream; thence generally north by the aforesaid stream to the Ruamahanga River; and thence by a line along the middle of the said Ruamahanga River to the place of commencement.

Turanganui Riding.

Bounded towards the north generally by the Kahautara Riding as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 20th February, 1902, page 414, from Lake Wairarapa to the junction of the Ruamahanga River and the Oruapouanui Stream; thence by the Otarai a Riding hereinbefore described to the southernmost corner of Section 3, Block XVI, Haurangi Survey District; thence south-east generally by Section 6 of the same district to Mount Ross; thence along the watersheds past the trig. stations Whawanui, Ngapotiki, Mount Barton, and Rae-o-tu-te-Mahuta and along the middle of the Mataoperu Stream to the sea; thence towards the west and south-west generally by the sea to the Western Lake Riding [as described in the New Zealand Gazette of 20th February, 1902, page 414; thence along the eastern boundary of that riding to the place of commencement.

Awhea Riding.

Commencing at the mouth of the Mataoperu Stream, in Block XI, Kaiwaka Survey District, and thence following on the south-west and west generally by the boundaries of the Otarai a and Turanganui Ridings hereinbefore described to the Huangarua River; thence along the middle of that river to the northernmost corner of Allotment 1 (D.P. 2217) of part Ngawaka-a-kupe B, Block XIV, Huangarua Survey District; thence on the north-east by part of the north-eastern boundary of the said Allotment 1 to Windy Peak Trig. Station; thence by the north-eastern boundary of Block II, Waipawa Survey District, to L Trig. Station; thence by the north-eastern boundary of Ngawaka-a-kupe B, Block III, Waipawa Survey District, to the north-westernmost corner of Section 75, Block VII, Waipawa Survey District; thence north-east by the said Section 75 to the northernmost corner of Section 151 of the aforesaid district; thence by the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Section 158, Block VIII, Waipawa Survey District, to the Rerewahaito Stream; thence along the middle of that stream to the sea; thence by the sea to the place of commencement. The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Featherston was affixed to the above special order in pursuance of a resolution of the Featherston County Council passed on the 14th day of July, 1916, in the presence of—

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the Staff, New Zealand Staff Corps, and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Staff; New Zealand Staff Corps, and the Territorial Force:—

Staff.

Captain Henry Alexander Cooper (5th Lancers), Imperial General Staff, is granted the temporary rank of Major while serving with the New Zealand Military Forces, and with effect from 21st July, 1916.

New Zealand Staff Corps.

Lieutenant (temporary Captain) George Clarence Sykes Dyer to be Captain. Dated 1st April, 1916.

Lieutenant Ferdinand August Wood to be Captain. Dated 1st April, 1916.

4th (Waikato) Mounted Rifles.

Captain Joseph Livingstone Fraser-Hurst, Reserve of Officers, is transferred to the New Zealand Medical Corps. Dated 14th September, 1914.

7th (Southland) Mounted Rifles.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 143, of 16th December, 1915, relative to the appointment of officers, the words “on probation” are deleted.

8th (South Canterbury) Mounted Rifles.

Harry Bell Spearman Johnstone to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), vice 2nd Lieutenant Dailey, on active service. Dated 21st July, 1916.

11th (North Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

Lot Cooper to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), vice 2nd Lieutenant Smedley, on active service. Dated 17th July, 1916.

Corps of New Zealand Engineers.—New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps.

Captain William John Worthington to be Major. Dated 4th July, 1916.

4th (Otago) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant Eric Claude Spedding to be Lieutenant, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913, Dated 12th July, 1916.

6th (Hauraki) Regiment.

Henry Thomas Gibson to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), vice 2nd Lieutenant Gray, on active service. Dated 13th July, 1916.

7th (Wellington West Coast) Regiment.

Captain William Winchester, from the Reserve of Officers, 12th (Nelson) Regiment, to be Captain. Dated 22nd November, 1915.

8th (Southland) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant Frederick James William Stewart to be Lieutenant, with seniority next below Lieutenant T. W. Hammond. Dated 1st April, 1914.

12th (Nelson) Regiment.

Captain William Winchester, Reserve of Officers, is transferred to the 7th (Wellington West Coast) Regiment. Dated 22nd November, 1915.

New Zealand Army Service Corps.

The notice published in New Zealand Gazette dated 25th February, 1915, relative to the appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Arthur Reginald Bushell is cancelled.
